I'm so excited to see one of my fabulous med school classmates joining the community of DPC doctors!

Hi, I'm Dr. Courtney Erickson-Adams! I started accepting patients at Momentum Medicine back in May, and I'm just now getting around to introducing myself. In my defense, I've been a little busy. (Exhibit A: this photo, taken when our cabinets were still in pieces. 😅)

That's me with Dr. Matt Hilton, my partner in crime. We built this space so you can have real time with your doctor, a direct line when you need one, and care that keeps you healthy instead of only treating you once you're sick. That's Direct Primary Care.

It also happens to be National Primary Care Week, which makes my timing accidentally perfect. I mean...I planned it that way. 😉

What is Dr. Whyte doing on her admin day? Limbing and bucking, of course! Thanks, Mother Nature, for downing a bunch of trees at my sister’s house. Still, I am really thankful that having my own DPC practice allows me the flexibility to help out my family when needed. I could never have taken a day away from the office like this when I worked in the “traditional” healthcare system.

I was sad to learn today of the passing of Sharon Gates, who was one of the most memorable parts of my time as a student at Rush University Medical College. I don't know if there has ever been anyone as committed to students and community service as she was. This is truly a loss for Chicago, and she will be missed by many. I feel incredibly lucky to have known her.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Sharon Gates, DSW, senior director of Student Diversity and Community Engagement at Rush University.

‌For more than 35 years, Sharon played an integral role in supporting and developing students. She leaves a legacy of service, always putting others at the forefront of her work. Her commitment to students and our communities was evident throughout her career, especially through the Rush Community Service Initiatives Programs to advance Rush’s mission across Chicago and beyond. For three decades, these programs have helped students connect their passions with their education to serve those who need it most. Her contributions to Rush and the communities we serve are innumerable.

We had a beautiful day for our walk on Saturday, and we even found a walking stick! We also tired out one of our furry walkers, but another walker was willing to share his stroller for a bit.

After several days of crazy weather, I'm glad for what looks to be beautiful weather for our walk this morning. Join us today, June 13th, at 10 AM for our talk about Skin Health and then a walk around Lake Chaminwood, if you can! Bring some water, because it is expected to be sunny! (Which is why it is the perfect day for me to try making sun tea for the first time!)
