🍲🦴 Did you know? Bone broth naturally contains glycine and hydroxyproline, two amino acids that are important building blocks for collagen—the structural protein found throughout your cartilage, tendons, ligaments, skin, and connective tissue.

Collagen is made from repeating chains of amino acids, with glycine making up a large portion of its structure. Hydroxyproline is another distinctive collagen amino acid that helps give collagen its strength and stability.

When you consume collagen-rich foods such as bone broth, your digestive system breaks the collagen down into amino acids and small peptides. These can then be absorbed and used throughout the body, including in tissues involved in connective-tissue maintenance.

Research on collagen peptides has found promising effects on joint comfort and connective-tissue health. Clinical studies have reported improvements in joint symptoms and exercise-related joint discomfort in some people taking collagen peptides regularly, which is one reason collagen nutrition has become an active area of research.

Your body also naturally increases tissue repair and protein synthesis during sleep, making nighttime an interesting time to provide your body with the amino acids it needs for normal maintenance and recovery.

💡 Try this: Have a cup of bone broth in the evening as part of a protein-rich diet. Look for broths with a meaningful amount of protein, since the collagen content can vary significantly between products.

The fascinating part is that the humble amino acids in collagen-rich foods are the same raw materials your body uses to maintain the connective tissues that keep your joints moving smoothly.

🦠🦴 Did you know? The health of your gut and joints may be more closely connected than most people realize.

Your intestinal lining acts as an important barrier between the contents of your digestive tract and the rest of your body. When this barrier becomes more permeable—often called “leaky gut”—bacterial products and other molecules may have greater access to the immune system.

This matters because your gut is home to trillions of microorganisms that constantly interact with your immune system. Changes in the gut microbiome and intestinal barrier have been associated with inflammatory conditions, including certain forms of arthritis.

Researchers are particularly interested in the gut-joint axis. Studies suggest that changes in gut bacteria can influence immune signaling and inflammatory pathways that may affect tissues far beyond the digestive tract, including the joints.

This connection appears especially relevant in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, where immune-system activity plays a major role in joint inflammation. Certain gut bacteria and alterations in intestinal permeability have been observed more frequently in people with inflammatory arthritis.

💡 Try this: Support your gut environment with a diet rich in fiber from vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and nuts. These foods help nourish beneficial gut bacteria, which produce compounds that can support the intestinal barrier and healthy immune function.

Your joints may be where inflammation is felt, but the biological signals influencing that inflammation can begin much farther away—including inside your gut.

Such a wonderful statement ✨

All too often we think we are not where we "should" be, but we forget that we are right where we need to be at that moment - for whatever reason - know you won't be there forever and you can continue your journey.

It doesn't take much fat from plants to make a difference either. For example, just three grams of fat in an entire meal may be enough to boost nutrient absorption. Dark green leafy veggies are the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. What’s the best way to prep them? https://bit.ly/2EoChbd

Research increasingly points to muscle as a key marker of healthy aging — not just for strength, but for survival.

Studies have found that people with more muscle mass and greater strength tend to live longer, recover better from illness, and maintain independence further into old age. Grip strength alone has predicted mortality more accurately than blood pressure in large studies.
Part of the reason: muscle is your largest store of glucose disposal, a source of protective signaling molecules, and your defense against frailty and falls.

The encouraging part is that muscle responds to training at any age — even in your 80s and 90s.
Building and preserving muscle is one of the most protective things you can do for a long, capable life.

Magnesium quietly supports many of the things that matter as you get older — muscle function, energy metabolism, and normal sleep regulation all depend on it.

And one of the easiest food sources is sitting in your kitchen:
🎃 Pumpkin seeds.

A small handful provides a substantial amount of magnesium, along with:
🔹 Zinc — important for normal immune function, reproductive health, and testosterone production
🔹 Healthy fats — including polyunsaturated fats
🔹 Protein — making them surprisingly filling for their size
🔹 Tryptophan — an amino acid involved in the production of serotonin and melatonin

They’re also easy to add to your diet:
✅ Choose raw or dry-roasted, preferably unsalted
✅ Keep portions reasonable — they’re nutrient-dense but calorie-dense
✅ Store them in an airtight container, ideally somewhere cool or refrigerated for longer freshness

If you’re looking for an easy way to increase your magnesium intake, pumpkin seeds are one of the better foods to keep around.

Sometimes the simplest nutrition upgrades are hiding in plain sight.

It's so important to set boundaries and give yourself space and kindness.

If you are always running for others, when they aren't attempting to help themselves, you are wasting your energy that could be spent on yourself to refill your energy to help others who really need the help.

Such a true statement ✨

Sometimes we have to make decisions during hard times that others won't understand. We do it to better ourselves to get us on the path we believe to be the best for us.

As our lives change, sometimes we can second guess or even regret the decision(s) that were made and we anguish over those decisions.

But we need to remember that we did what was best for us at that time. Forgiving ourselves can be one of the most challenging things to do.

If you need support, we are here to assist in dealing with the stress that those situations are causing. Allow us to assist in guiding you to forgive yourself and understanding those decisions made.

The hardest person to forgive is often the version of yourself who didn't know any better.

You still replay that moment.
The words you wish you hadn't said.
The opportunity you didn't take.
The person you trusted.
The version of you that stayed too long... or left too soon.

If you could go back, you'd do it differently.
But the person who made those choices didn't know what you know today.
They were carrying less wisdom.
Less healing.
Less experience.

You've been judging yesterday's self with today's understanding.
That's not justice.
That's impossible.

The mistakes you regret weren't proof that you were broken.
They were proof that you were learning.
So stop putting your younger self on trial.
Instead...
Thank them.

They survived long enough to become the person reading these words.
Today, give yourself the same compassion you would give someone you love.
Because healing doesn't begin when you become perfect.
It begins when you stop treating yourself like your own enemy.
