If your idea of plant-based eating is chickpeas, tofu and another processed “vegan” snack… come sit at my table. There is an entire world of real food growing from the earth.
And when you ask me how I get these long nails and beautiful skin… and what foundation I use…and why does it seem as if I never age. I have one simple answer. I don’t wear makeup and my life does not revolve around processed food. THERE ARE NO ULTRA PROCESSED SNACKS IN MY HOME.
This d’luscious, nature inspired meal is a representation of my skin care routine. I nourish from the inside out. What you put inside of your body will manifest on the outside. So no, I don’t care to have my face beat, while my insides rot. I have no desire to walk around looking like an embalmed body. I’m truly loving the skin that I’m in.
And because I eat with intention; everything on this plate provides a gentle detox, supporting my liver, sweeping my colon, cleansing my blood and nourishing my body on a cellular level.
Curious about what's on the plate: Cabbage, dandelion greens, lacinato kale, broccoli rabe, zucchini and yellow squash, broccoli rabe, tomatoes.
Boiled green bananas, roasted pumpkin, chayote, butternut squash. In Jamaica, we refer to these as ground provisions or food. They keep you satiated for long periods, so there really is no need for a cheat meal.
Who decided we needed a “cheat meal” anyway?
Why are we building a relationship with food where nourishment is punishment and eating something enjoyable is considered cheating?
When your plate is colorful, flavorful, satisfying and made from ingredients you genuinely enjoy, you don't have to spend your life waiting for permission to escape your own food.
