Saint Joseph Health System is investing $5 million to expand oncology services at Saint Joseph Plymouth Medical Center, improving access to advanced cancer care for patients in Marshall County and surrounding communities.

These enhancements will allow more patients to receive comprehensive cancer care locally, reducing the need to travel for treatment while bringing advanced technology and expertise closer to home.

We are proud to recognize Jia Pei, MBA, BSN, RN, as our May Behind the Badge honoree. Jia currently works in our Cardiovascular Operating Room and is a valued member of the CVOR team. Jia and his family moved to the area four years ago, and he found a perfect fit at SJHS!

Before pursuing nursing, Jia planned to start a consulting business. However, a family member’s health issue prompted him to reflect on how he could make a more direct impact on others’ lives. That experience led him to enroll in the BSN program at Western Kentucky University. Jia considers becoming a nurse one of the best decisions he has ever made. He values working alongside his colleagues and appreciates the team’s strong culture of mutual support. What stands out most to him is the shared commitment to advocating for patients.

Here is what Jia’s manager, Ingrid, had to say: “Jia is an exceptional team player who is highly skilled, knowledgeable and consistently steady. In high-stakes CVOR cases, his calm presence inspires confidence across the entire team. As a circulator, he embodies the role of team captain, and his composed, competent leadership benefits both staff and patients. Jia has also willingly picked up shifts in PACU, demonstrating his versatility, strong skill set and commitment beyond the OR.”
