Ever notice little specks, squiggly lines, or cobweb-like shadows drifting across your vision?

Those are called vitreous floaters.

Inside your eye is a clear, gel-like substance called the vitreous. As we age, this gel naturally becomes more liquid and can form tiny clumps or strands. When light enters your eye, these small clumps cast shadows on the retina — and that’s what you see floating around.

💭 They’re most noticeable when:
• Looking at a bright sky
• Reading on a white background
• Staring at a computer screen

👀 Are they normal?
Yes — most floaters are a normal part of aging and are harmless.

🚨 When should you be concerned?
If you suddenly notice:
• A shower of new floaters
• Flashes of light
• A curtain or shadow in your side vision

These could be signs of a retinal tear or detachment and should be evaluated immediately by an eye doctor.

If you’re unsure, it’s always best to get checked. Your vision is worth it. 💙
