If your hamstring strain won't heal no matter what you do, there's a good chance it was never your hamstring.

The sciatic nerve runs right through the back of your thigh. It produces the EXACT same symptoms. Posterior thigh pain. Tightness when you bend forward. Pain when you run or stretch.

Most people treat the muscle for months. Nobody assesses the nerve.

Same location. Same symptoms. Completely different problem. Completely different fix.

Most neuropathy patients are only being treated for one type.

There are two. And they feel identical.

One is metabolic. Driven by blood sugar and inflammation damaging the nerve over time. One is mechanical. Fascia or surrounding tissue compressing the nerve and cutting off its ability to move freely.

If you have both and only one is being addressed, the symptoms don't change. That's why most people aren't getting better.

You don't need a fracture to have instability in your spine.

Most people with a disc herniation and no clear cause have some degree of instability involved. Most of them have no idea.

And you won't find it on a standard MRI or X-ray. Those are static images. Instability only shows up when the spine is MOVING and under load.

If you have a herniation with no clear cause, an image isn't enough. You need a functional exam to identify the ROOT CAUSE.

Your friend told you to rest your back. They meant well. They were wrong.

Rest reduces pain short term by calming inflammation down. That part is real.

But at the same time the muscles supporting your spine weaken. Blood flow to the healing tissue drops. Everything your back needs to actually HEAL starts to decondition.

Your back doesn't need a break. It needs the right input.

Most people describe their pain as just pain.

But burning, tingling pain is a completely different problem than deep aching pain. Which is a completely different problem than throbbing pain that comes on with exercise.

Different tissues produce different SYMPTOMS.

And four completely different problems need four completely different fixes.

Knowing which one you're dealing with points you in the right direction before you ever walk into a clinic.
