πŸ‘οΈ If you had LASIK years ago, you probably threw the glasses in a drawer and forgot about your eyes. Now the reading glasses are creeping back, and it feels like the surgery wore off.

It did not. LASIK reshaped the cornea, the clear window on the front of your eye. The focusing lens inside, the part that naturally stiffens with age, is what changed, and LASIK never touched it. That is why the readers came back, and it is also why having had LASIK does not close the door on lens surgery now. My newest video explains why it happens and what your real options are.

πŸ‘οΈ In many practices you see an optometrist for everything and never meet the surgeon until you have committed.

In my practice, you see me from the first visit to the last, because the design of your vision is the surgery. It is not an add on to it.

πŸ‘οΈ Insurance covers the removal of the cataract. It does not cover the result.

It will pay to take the cloud out. It will not pay for how clearly you see once it is gone. My latest video explains what that means for your decision.

πŸ‘οΈ Modern cataract surgery has two parts, and insurance only covers one of them.

The medical part, removing the cloudy lens, is covered once your vision is bad enough to meet the criteria. The vision part, how clearly you see afterward, is a separate story. Here is what that means for you.

πŸ‘οΈ If you were told cataract surgery is covered by insurance, that is true. It is also incomplete.

Modern cataract surgery has two parts. The medical part, removing the cloudy lens, is what insurance covers. The vision part, how clearly you see afterward, it has never covered. Insurance pays to take the cloud out, not for how clearly you see once it is gone. My latest video explains exactly what that means for your decision.

πŸ‘οΈ There is a patient the Light Adjustable Lens genuinely fits, and it is a smaller group than most people think.

If you have a normal cornea, you do not need it. If you have had LASIK once, or even twice, I can still hit the target. I have you. My latest video explains exactly who the lens is right for.

πŸ‘οΈ Joyce would not compromise on her vision. She chose laser cataract surgery with the PanOptix Pro lens in both eyes, is now 20/20 at distance and near and completely glasses free, and is beyond grateful.

πŸ‘οΈ The part I weigh most heavily as a surgeon with the Light Adjustable Lens.

The adjustment you lock in is permanent. But your prescription is not. It shifts day to day, mostly with dry eye, which is common after surgery. So you are making a permanent adjustment on a moving target, and then you freeze it in place.

πŸ‘οΈ A lens called the Light Adjustable Lens is trending, and I made a deliberate decision not to offer it to almost all of my patients.

Not because it is a bad lens, but because of the real-world trade-offs. My latest video walks through my honest reasoning as a surgeon, and the one patient for whom it genuinely is the right choice.

πŸ‘οΈ A lens called the Light Adjustable Lens is getting a lot of attention right now, and patients ask me about it almost every week.

I have studied it closely and made a deliberate decision not to offer it to almost all of my patients. Not because it is a bad lens, but because of the real-world trade-offs.
