Wellness Wednesday | Dementia Risk Awareness š§
Studies have found that individuals with mild hearing loss are about twice as likely to develop dementia, those with moderate hearing loss are three times as likely, and people with severe hearing loss may be up to five times more likely to develop dementia compared to those with normal hearing.
While hearing loss does not directly cause dementia, it can contribute to factors that increase risk, such as reduced social interaction, increased listening effort, and changes in how the brain processes sound.
The good news is that identifying and treating hearing loss early may help support cognitive health and keep you engaged in conversations and daily life.
If youāve noticed changes in your hearing, scheduling a hearing evaluation is an important step toward protecting both your hearing and brain health. š
