Aerie instructors, alongside medics from Missoula Fire Department, Missoula Rural Fire, Missoula Emergency Services, and the University of Montana’s paramedicine program are teaching during a week of EMS training for Missoula-valley fire/ EMS agencies. Aerie was thrilled to unite Dr. Sheldon Cheskes (center, in a suit) with Eric Crosby (to Dr. Cheskes’ left), a cardiac arrest survivor, and many of the EMS team who resuscitated Mr. Crosby.  Dr. Cheskes is the author of  the New England Journal of Medicine’s article detailing Double Sequential External Defibrillation (DSED).  Missoula EMS providers used DSED on Mr. Crosby when he collapsed during Missoula’s 2024 River Bank Run.

Join us May 8th at Missoula College! Aerie is hosting Dr. Sheldon Cheskes to discuss his landmark DOSE VF trial. The study showed double sequential external defibrillation led to greater survival for patients with refractory ventricular fibrillation. Missoula’s EMS system was an early adopter of this practice. credits available!

We are currently focusing our interviews on licensed Paramedics, experienced EMTs, as well as folks who already have foundational experience on wildland fires. If you don’t yet have experience in these areas, we unfortunately won’t be able to bring you on for 2026. We would absolutely welcome you to reach back out in a future season once you’ve gained some experience! Thank you!
