Our region is under-resourced — most healthcare providers are generalists rather than specialists. Meanwhile, eating disorders have historically been viewed as a specialty focus, despite their widespread prevalence.

You can help expand evidence-based eating disorder treatment services to Montanans. Because of you, we will continue to:
- Train practitioners across our state through an innovative training model. We help healthcare providers and mental health clinicians develop the skills to diagnose and treat eating disorders as part of their regular practice.

The University of Montana Eating Disorder Training Clinic (UMEDTC) is operated by Dr. Caitlin Martin-Wagar from the Department of Psychology at the University of Montana. At the UMEDTC, we provide low-cost and evidence-based eating disorder assessment and psychotherapy treatment at an outpatient level of care.

We work with children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders, as well as their families. We are able to treat those who reside in Montana, either in-person at our clinic in Missoula or remotely. We work with all types of eating and feeding disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, purging disorder, other specified feeding and eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. We are committed to providing high-quality, culturally-competent, inclusive care for all clients.

Our clinic is a training clinic, with the goal of teaching psychology doctoral-level student clinicians and licensed clinicians how to successfully treat eating disorders. Thus, patients in our clinic will be treated by a clinician who is actively receiving comprehensive eating disorder training and supervision from Dr. Martin-Wagar, a licensed psychologist (MT #3789) with eating disorder expertise.

We also provide free eating disorder trainings to healthcare providers across the state, led by Katie Foote, FNP, RN and Caitlin Martin-Wagar, PhD. Please see our 'Training for Professionals' tab for more details on our trainings.
