Postpartum mental health has been difficult for many pregnant women, mothers, and families experiencing stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. This underscores both the need for compassionate, accessible resources and the important role maternal and child health programs play in helping mothers and families know where to turn.

The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Individuals can call or text 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) or webchat to connect with a trained counselor who will listen, provide support, and connect them with resources.

As we wrap up National Health Center Week, we celebrate the vital role community health centers play in strengthening Mobile County. Family Health, Accordia/AltaPointe, Mostellar Medical Center, Franklin Primary Medical Center, and our many valued local partners provide an essential safety net — helping individuals and families access affordable, quality health care close to home.

Access to care remains a challenge for many in our community. Community Health Centers rise to meet that need every day, delivering compassionate, comprehensive care and helping build a healthier Mobile County for all.

President Connie Hudson presented a proclamation today at the Mobile County Commission meeting in recognition of National Health Center Week. Representing Family Health was Health Service Administrator Bradley Cross. Others present were Accordia Health, Franklin Primary, Mostellar Medical, and Victory Health Partners. The proclamation was also signed by Commissioners Merceria Ludgood and Randall Dueitt.

Representatives from Family Health are currently taking part in the National Ryan White Conference on HIV Care & Treatment. The theme of the event is “Building on 35 Years of CARE: Strengthening our Foundation and Advancing Access to End the HIV Epidemic.”

Mason Wade, FNP-C, AAHIVS, joined Michelle Bernard, who oversees the Ryan White program for Family Health, in a poster presentation this week.

“We presented pre-implementation data for our ongoing COAST-AL study in collaboration with UAB and the NIH in which we’re studying the implementation of rapid start ART for those living with HIV,” said Wade, who in 2025 was credentialed as an HIV Specialist.

Also present from Family Health are Kelly Warren, Linette Clausman, Anita Ferrell, and Melissa Creighton-Bryan.

The 2026 National Conference brings together the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) and Ending the HIV Epidemic community both in-person and virtually, with the conference taking place in Washington, D.C.

Family Health began providing care to people living with HIV/AIDS in 1987. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Family Health strives to meet the needs of the underserved within the agency’s service area.
