It was truly an honor to be in Pittsburgh and spend time with John Moon, one of the pioneers of Freedom House Ambulance Service.

Freedom House helped change the history of emergency medical services, and it’s a story that deserves to be told and remembered.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet John Moon a few times over the years, and I always enjoy spending time with him and hearing his stories.

This visit was particularly special as we gathered for the dedication of a SaveStation outdoor AED cabinet housing a ZOLL AED, and to recognize the history of Freedom House Ambulance Service.

I wanted to share a small part of John’s speech from that day. It’s one thing to read about history, but something entirely different to sit and listen to someone who was actually part of it.

Different venues. Different roles. One common goal — being prepared to save a life! ❤️

Today, CEMS had the pleasure of providing CPR training at the historic Saenger Theatre in Mobile! We had a great group of Oak View Group staff representing the Saenger Theatre, Mobile Convention Center, and the new Regions Arena, scheduled to open in 2027.

Some had taken CPR before, while others were learning these lifesaving skills for the very first time. Everyone was engaged, asked great questions, and put in the effort to practice their skills and build their confidence. What a great group!

You never know when or where a cardiac emergency might happen. It could be at work, at home, or while enjoying an event with family and friends. Knowing what to do and having the confidence to step in and help can make all the difference.

A big thank you to Oak View Group and everyone who participated today! It’s always encouraging to see organizations investing in the safety of their staff and the thousands of people who visit these venues.

One thing I always tell my students is that learning CPR is one thing, but being able to perform quality CPR and having the confidence to use those skills is just as important.

That’s why we practice. Great technique, quality compressions, and plenty of hands-on training. You never know when someone might be counting on you.

Our Crimson for Kids flag is up! ❤️

Proud to stand with Parent Heart Watch and their Crimson for Kids initiative during Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month.

This is a mission that means a lot to me and to CemsCpr. We’ll keep doing our part to advocate, educate, teach CPR and AED skills, support youth heart screenings, and hopefully get more people prepared to act when it matters most.

Sometimes something as simple as a flag in the front yard can start a conversation — and that conversation might just make a difference.
