Tina S Howard, MA, LPC-S Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential therapy in which clients learn about themselves and others through hands on activities with the horse.

The focus is on human skills, not horse skills. Specific treatment goals are identifies but sessions are process focused. Activities can be designed to create metaphors for "real life," with sessions structured and facilitated to address the reasons clients came for therapy. Activities can be designed to work on relationships and emotional regulation by developing a healthy relationship with the horse.

Testimony Tuesday:

Seeking counseling is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of courage. Healing begins when we are willing to be honest about our struggles and open to growth. Counseling provides a safe place to process life's challenges, gain new perspectives, develop healthier coping skills, and find hope for the future. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is ask for help.
"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." — Proverbs 15:22

He sends me this message every year, and every year it reminds me why I love what I do.
He was one of the most difficult cases I’ve ever worked with. There was a time when I honestly wasn’t sure he would even make it to treatment at Bradford, much less find lasting recovery. But he did.
Today, he continues to celebrate his sobriety, and his life is a testament to the power of perseverance, courage, and hope. Sobriety is more than simply not using substances—it is reclaiming your life, rebuilding relationships, rediscovering purpose, and proving that change is possible even when the odds seem stacked against you.
Recovery happens one day at a time, and every sober day is a victory worth celebrating. Stories like his remind us that no one is beyond hope, and miracles often begin with a single decision to keep going.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come." — 2 Corinthians 5:17
What a beautiful reminder that God specializes in making all things new.

✨Weekend Mental Health Reminder ✨

As you head into the weekend, remember that rest is productive too. You do not have to earn your worth through constant busyness. Take time to recharge, connect with people you love, enjoy God's blessings, and care for your mind, body, and spirit.
Give yourself permission to slow down, set healthy boundaries, and be present in the moments that matter most.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28

June is Men's Mental Health Month 💙
Men face stress, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, and life challenges too. Yet many suffer in silence because they feel pressure to "be strong" or handle everything on their own.

This month, let's encourage the men in our lives to talk, seek support, and prioritize their mental and emotional well-being. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of courage.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

If you're struggling, you don't have to face it alone.

Mental Health Matters

"Taking care of your mental health is not a sign of weakness—it is an act of wisdom, courage, and stewardship. When we care for our minds, we are better equipped to love God, serve others, and walk in the purpose He has for our lives."

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." — Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Counseling Tip of the Day:

You don't have to solve every problem today. When life feels overwhelming, focus on the next right step rather than the entire journey. Small, consistent actions—making a phone call, taking a walk, saying a prayer, setting a boundary, or asking for help—often create more lasting change than waiting until you feel fully motivated or have everything figured out.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." — Matthew 6:34
Today, give yourself permission to take one healthy step forward. That's enough. 💙

Some days feel heavier than others, and the road ahead may seem uncertain. In those moments, remember that God is still present, even when you cannot see what He is doing. The same God who carried you through yesterday is walking beside you today and preparing the way for tomorrow. Hold on to your faith, trust His timing, and know that no hardship is wasted in His hands. Strength, peace, and hope are often growing beneath the surface long before we can see the harvest. ❤️🙏🏻
