DIAZ SOSA

ADVANCE – Felipe Rene Diaz Sosa, 79, died Monday, September 7, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

It is with much love and sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

Felipe was born in Jocoro, Morazán, El Salvador, and spent his final days in Advance. For 56 years, he shared his life with his wife, Ana Julia Salamanca de Díaz, with whom he built a beautiful family. He was the father of René, Lorena, Elsy, and Vicky. He had the privilege and blessing of seeing and enjoying his nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was a joyful, hardworking man and a jokester with a great sense of humor, but also with a very special character all his own. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will always remember his unique way of making us laugh.

He enjoyed the simple things in life - riding his moped, playing pool, playing change-change, sitting outside, tending to his garden, and taking care of all of our yards. But more than anything, he loved spending time with his family. These are the little things, along with so many others, that have now become memories we will carry forever in our hearts.

His passing leaves an enormous emptiness in our family, but he also leaves us with many years of stories, laughter, lessons, and memories that we will continue to share.

We are going to miss you so much, viejito. Thank you for all the beautiful moments and memories you left us.

You will forever live in our hearts. 💙

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, September 11, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Joshua L. Gupton officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them at a reception at the funeral home immediately following the service until 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Rose Cemetery.

Es con mucho cariño y tristeza que despedimos a nuestro esposo, padre, y abuelo quien falleció el 7 de septiembre del 2026.

Felipe nació en Jocoro, Morazán, El Salvador y vivió sus últimos días en Advance, NC. Durante 56 años compartió su vida junto a su esposa Ana Julia Salamanca de Díaz, con quien formó una hermosa familia. Fue padre de René, Lorena, Elsy, y Vicky. Tuvo el privilegio y bendición de poder ver y disfrutar a sus nueve nietos y doce bisnietos.

El fue un hombre alegre, trabajador, bromista de buen sentido de humor pero con un carácter muy especial. Quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo recordarán esa manera suya de hacernos reír.

Disfrutaba de cosas cómo andar en su moped, jugar billar, jugar change change, sentarse afuera, y cuidar de su huerta y todas nuestras yardas. Pero más que todo esto, el le encantaba compartir momentos con su familia. Precisamente estos son los detalles y muchos más que hoy se convierten en recuerdos que guardamos para siempre en nuestros corazones.

Su partida deja un vacío enorme en nuestra familia, pero también nos deja muchos años de historias, risas, enseñanzas, y recuerdos que seguiremos compartiendo.

Le vamos a extrañar muchísimo, viejito. Gracias por todos esos bellos momentos y recuerdos que nos dejó.

Por siempre vivirá en nuestros corazones. 💙

Un servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el viernes 11 de septiembre a las 10:00 a.m. en Lambert Funeral Chapel, y será oficiado por el Reverendo Joshua L. Gupton.

Bonnie June Dagenhart Killmeyer

Bonnie June Dagenhart Killmeyer, 65, of Advance, went to be with her Lord and Savior unexpectedly on September 7, 2026.

She was born in Iredell County on December 20,1960. Bonnie was a woman of profound resilience. Though she overcame many health trials from birth on, she never let those challenges define her. Instead, she rose above them to build a successful, beautiful life centered around the family she loved more than anything else. Driven by a passion to help others, including a spot for rescuing many animals, Bonnie overcame personal hurdles to have a successful career as a nurse. Her perseverance inspired everyone around her.

Bonnie was a devoted wife of 29 years to Scott Killmeyer. Together, they built a beautiful and happy life filled with love and memories. She enjoyed being by the water, whether at the lake or the beach, fishing, and going to the mountains. Bonnie also had a great love for hockey and was a devoted fan of her Carolina Thunderbirds hockey team.

Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and was a source of strength, comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love. Bonnie leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and the countless lives she touched.

Though her passing leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Nancy Benfield, and Richard Sipes.

Left behind to cherish her precious memory are her husband, Scott Killmeyer; her brother, Mike Dagenhart (Patsy); her three daughters, Holly McDaniel (Clinton), Tracy Barnes (Stephen), and Brittany Head (Ken); her grandchildren, Richard McDaniel, Alexis Jordan, Riley and Logan Barnes, Haily and Daisy Atkins, and Laikyn and Kinsley Head; and her great-grandson, Waylon Goins.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, September 12, at Lambert Funeral Chapel. The family invites friends to visit with them at the funeral home immediately following the service.

As Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, we can’t help but look back at a summer filled with one of our favorite things—COMMUNITY! ❤️
And what a summer it was!

From KidsFest to our Memorial Day Service… celebrating our nation’s 250th with the Army Band at the Brock Performing Arts Center, watching the Cooleemee Parade and the special display at the Davie County Public Library… giving a bittersweet send-off to one of our guys, Chris… spending summer nights under the baseball stadium lights cheering on the Crocketts… celebrating 90 YEARS with our friends at Daniel Furniture and Electric Co., Inc.… joining Davie County Senior Services for their Senior Expo and sponsoring a little Bingo fun… celebrating 80 years of Rotary in Davie, partnering with Carolina Caring to host some of our community’s veterans for lunch… and so many other moments in between- we’ve laughed, celebrated, served, cheered, connected, and made a whole lot of memories along the way!

There’s something pretty special about getting to show up for the people, organizations, traditions, and events that make our community what it is. We’re grateful for every invitation, every partnership, every familiar face, and every new connection made along the way.

Kathryn Ann Kirby Palmer

Kathryn Ann Kirby Palmer, 77, of Advance, died Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

She was born April 25, 1949, in Boston, MA, to the late Henry James and Mary Louise Coffey Kirby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Charles Russell Palmer; three sisters, Deborah Jean Palmer, Loretta Teresa Dickey, and Mary L. Fields.

Survivors include her son, Robert Walsh, Jr.; two daughters, Aileen Morales, and Lena; a brother James Kirby (Sandra); several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at later date at Lambert Funeral Chapel.

Armani Steven (Tyler) Flowers

Armani Steven (Tyler) Flowers, 37, of Mocksville, stepped into glory, face to face with his Maker Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 5pm.

His life here on earth brought honor to the One True God. We believe he is leading Angels in worship now! We believe he will reign as a king over the nations in the millennial. “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.”

Revelation 20:6 ESV

Armani was born on November 15, 1988, in Fort Myers, FL. He was a son of the Most High God, lifelong soul mate to Asha, Godly Father, Worship Evangelist, Project Manager, Chef and Artist. Armani was involved with Grow Church in Naples, FL; Rescue House in Mocksville, NC; the Forge in Salisbury, NC; & Set Free Ministries in Butler, PA.

He leaves behind, to carry on the baton of faith, his beloved wife of 16 years, Asha (Julia) Sue Flowers (Bortoff); his four holy nations, Blake Tyler Flowers (14 yrs. old), Oakley Bear Flowers (5 yrs. old), Azalea Sue Flowers (3 yrs. old), and Victory Rose Flowers (8 months old); his blessed mother, Lisa (Elizabeth) Ann Flowers; father, Jose Genaro Sanchez; stepmother, Mira Sanchez; siblings, Jose Sanchez, Jr., Victoria Hernandez, and Margarita Sanchez; his uncle, Joseph Eugene Flowers; his cousin, Jeremiah John Flowers; his brother-in-law, Jeffrey Allen Bortoff; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was greeted in heaven, by his grandfather, Albert Flowers; his grandmother, Alice Flowers; his mother-in-law, Pamela Bortoff; his brother-in-law, Joseph Bortoff; and his family dogs, Rose and Cocoa.

May we all endure until the end, when we join you in heaven. May we make our lives count for what matters most. May we carry the baton of faith well. May we pick up our cross and follow Jesus all of our days! May we remember Armani well and bring God honor in all things, in Jesus Name, Amen!

Kenny Sidney Hampton

Kenny Sidney Hampton, 67, of Cooleemee, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born on October 22, 1958, in Rowan County, to the late Robert Lee and Gladys Lee Canter Hampton. Kenny worked for Baker Furniture for 33½ years. He enjoyed having friends over and cooking outdoors until his health began to decline. After becoming blind, Kenny found comfort and enjoyment in listening to his favorite television programs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Tarz” Hampton, Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Richard Spillman, and Carl Barber; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jane Campbell.

Survivors include his two brothers, Jimmy Hampton (Susan), and Johnny Hampton; two sisters, Joyce Spillman, and Dianne Barber; and his half-sister, Dot Vanzant

A service will be held at a later date at Lambert Funeral Chapel. A private family burial will be held at Legion Memorial Park, Cooleemee.

David Joseph Remillard

David Joseph Remillard, 61, of Mocksville, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at his home.

He was born on July 26, 1965, to the late Edward Jules and Elizabeth Ann Lovering Remillard.

David proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm.

Survivors include his son, Samuel Edward Remillard; a sister, Stacy Remillard; a brother, Steve Remillard; a companion, Laurie Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnny Lee Jordan

Johnny Lee Jordan, 73, of Cooleemee, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, as a result of a motorcycle accident in Wilkes County.

He was born on June 22, 1953, in Rowan County, to the late Loman and Blanche Jordan. Johnny proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1969 to 1972. During his military service, he was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, and Homestead, Florida.

Johnny was a member of several organizations, including the Piedmont Tractor Association, Cooleemee Civitan Club, and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was also a faithful and devoted member of Woodleaf Baptist Church.

Those who knew Johnny well knew of his deep passion for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons, as well as his love of tractors. He could often be found working on them, driving them, tinkering with them, or simply enjoying a good conversation about them. His enthusiasm for these interests was a cherished part of who he was and a reflection of the joy he found in the simple things he loved.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Jordan Talley; a sister-in-law Linda Chapell Jordan; and a nephew, Christopher Mack Jordan.

Survivors include siblings, David Jordan, Joyce Wagner (Tony), and Joe Jordan (Monica); an aunt, Delores Jordan; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Jeff Phipps.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, August 28, at Legion Memorial Park, with Rev. Chris Williams officiating.

He was born on April 24, 1955, in Guilford County, to the late Alvin Eugene and Lois Virginia Foster Slate.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a brother, Brian Foster Slate.

Survivors include his wife, Lorrie Anne Flicek Slate; children, Olivia Nicole Slate (Tucker), Nicayla J. Slate (Brian), Luis Soto (Sara), and Mercedes Soto (Bill); and grandchildren, Aubrey Soto, Brian Foster Soloman, and Gabriel Williams.
