Celebrating 100 Years with Shirley
Today, Shirley is celebrating an incredible milestone—100 years of life. She shared that she hasn't really had time to stop and think about turning 100 and never imagined she would reach this remarkable age. Looking back, Shirley feels that everything in her life has been special.
One of the greatest joys of her celebration has been seeing old friends again. As an only child, Shirley describes herself as a "spoiled brat." Her mother worked and didn't want her running the streets, so Shirley spent much of her childhood at the movie theater.
Shirley says that family means everything to her. When asked what advice she would give younger generations, she said, "Whatever you're thinking, don't do it," followed by her more serious advice to "roll with the punches." She believes people worry too much about getting older and encourages others to take life as it comes.
Shirley hopes her family and friends will remember that she has always tried her best throughout the years. Some of her favorite things include sausage pizza, Christmas, Swiss Miss hot chocolate, Rhapsody in Blue, and Swan Lake. While she doesn't consider herself either a night owl or a morning person, she enjoys spending her time reading, taking naps, and reciting the Rosary.
At 100 years old, Shirley's life is a testament to resilience, appreciation, and finding joy in life's simple pleasures. Happy 100th Birthday, Shirley! 🎉🎂💜
