How Anxiety Can Show Up Physically
Anxiety doesn’t always feel like racing thoughts. Sometimes, your body speaks first.
You may notice:
- Racing or pounding heartbeat
- Tightness in your chest
- Shallow or rapid breathing
- Headaches or dizziness
- Muscle tension, especially in your neck and shoulders
- Stomachaches, nausea, or digestive changes
- Sweating or feeling unusually hot or cold
- Shakiness or trembling
- Fatigue or difficulty sleeping
These physical symptoms can feel scary, but they can also be your body’s response to stress and anxiety.
If anxiety is interfering with your everyday life, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Support is available at Westlake Counseling Services.
