O'Donnell-Thurman Life Celebration Home

O'Donnell-Thurman Life Celebration Home We are focused on placing you on a healing path. We will thoughtfully listen to you, encouraging you to share and talk about your loved one.

Throughout our time with you and your family, we will be a guiding hand helping you make the right choices. The James O’Donnell Funeral Home has been serving Monroe City and the surrounding communities for over 100 years, dating back to 1895 from its Hannibal location. In 2018 the James O’Donnell Funeral Home opened the James O’Donnell Life Celebration Home of Monroe City when it acquired the form

er Yager-Kendrick Funeral Home. New renovations and furnishings have increased the comforts of this modern facility for the families of Monroe City. Jimmy O’Donnell and his fellow directors are the only Life Celebration Home in the area. This means that our funeral directors are specially trained to co-create with families a memorable, healing experience that truly remembers a life lived. Together with the families we serve we create a unique experience that celebrates the path of our loved one’s life and shares all that is special.

Air Force Veteran, Andy’s Drive-In Owner and Beloved Family Man

Yesterday, we honored the life of Russell “RL” Anderson at his Life Celebration. RL proudly served in the United States Air Force as a B-29 mechanic. He owned and operated Andy's Drive In. RL was a talented baseball pitcher. He enjoyed restoring antique furniture, attending auctions, and listening to classic country music. He will be remembered for his hard work, playful sense of humor, sweet tooth, and, most of all, his deep love and devotion to his family.

Generous, Creative and Kind

Saturday, we honored the life of Edna R. Ryan Cook at her Life Celebration. Edna was a devoted foster parent and mother to many, opening her heart and home to countless children and leaving a lasting impact through her compassion and generosity. She found joy in country life, caring for animals, creating handmade crafts, cooking and baking for others, and sharing her faith through thoughtful acts of kindness. Edna will be lovingly remembered for her warm heart, giving spirit, quick wit, and the love she shared with everyone she met.
