While ticks are more active in summer months, tick season never really ends in North Carolina since the weather is so mild. Whenever you’re spending time outside be sure to take these precautions to avoid :⁣

🌳 Apply insect repellent containing DEET to exposed skin and clothing. ⁣
🥾 Wear clothing and gear, such as boots, long pants, long sleeve shirts and socks. ⁣
⛺️ Shower as soon as possible after coming indoors to wash off and more easily find ticks. ⁣
🌳 Conduct a full-body tick check using a hand-held or full-length mirror to view all parts of your body. ⁣
🥾 Make sure your pets are treated monthly with protection. https://www.novanthealth.org/healthy-headlines/are-your-childs-sunblock-and-bug-spray-safe

☀️ Hey Parents! Let's Keep Those Bugs at Bay! 🦟✨

The sun is shining, the park is calling, and the kiddos are ready to play! 🏃‍♂️💨 But guess who else decided to join the party? The bugs. 🐝😅

Don't worry, we've got you covered! Keeping your little adventurers safe from mosquito and tick bites is super easy once you know the rules. Here is your quick, worry-free guide to picking the perfect bug armor this summer! 🛡️👶

1. Hands off the hands! 👋 Kids love to rub their eyes and put their fingers in their mouths. Spray the repellent onto your hands first, then gently pat it onto your child’s face (avoiding the eyes and mouth).

2. Spray the clothes! 👕 Bugs can bite through thin fabric, so giving their shirt and pants a little mist works wonders.

3. Sunscreen FIRST, Bug Spray SECOND! 🧴 Let the sunscreen soak in for a few minutes before applying the bug spray.

4. Avoid the "Combo" Bottes: 🚫 2-in-1 sunscreen/bug sprays sound awesome, but sunscreen needs to be reapplied constantly, while bug spray should only be applied once a day!

5. End-of-day bath time: 🛁 Once the outdoor fun is done, wash the repellent off with warm water and soap. 🧼
