Do Mondays feel extra rough for your family?
I once worked with a beautiful, wise woman named Hester who would greet everyone at work on Monday mornings with a small gift. She’d say, “No one likes Mondays—so this is something to look forward to.” How sweet is that?!
Mondays are tough for adults—but they can be even harder for kids. The shift from a weekend schedule back to the weekday routine can lead to groggy mornings, cranky attitudes, and extra battles. So, how can we make Mondays (a little) easier for our kids and ourselves?
Here are a few tips to ease the transition:
1️⃣ Keep weekend bedtimes as consistent as possible. A drastic shift can throw off your child’s internal clock (and yours!).
2️⃣ Avoid big sleep-ins. Yes, it’s tempting! But try to limit extra sleep to 30–40 minutes to prevent a Monday morning meltdown.
3️⃣ Give your child something to look forward to on Mondays. Maybe it’s a little TV time if they get ready extra quick before the bus comes, listen to a fun playlist in the car, or place a small treat & note in their lunchbox. A little Monday magic can make a big difference!
Mondays may never be easy, but a little consistency and a small incentive can make them better! What’s your favorite way to make Monday mornings smoother for your family?
