Let's talk a minute about Tip Culture in America. I think tipping has come to be expected in certain industries like restaurants and massage but, in my business, I want you to know that's never the case. I know prices are really high right now and I don't want that to keep you from getting a massage. I have recently raised my prices by about $10 after 9 years of charging a dollar per minute, but I feel I have more experience now and with an almost Doctorate degree in musculoskeletal conditions, I thought it was justified. But at the end of the day, if you can only afford to pay the price I charge, that is all I ask for 🙂
Secondly, I feel it should be earned. I unfortunately had one of the worst massages I have ever had at the mall in Davenport tonight. Usually the massage is pretty good, but this one was uncomfortable and not relaxing whatsoever. The individual asked for a tip at the end as I signed the receipt. I handed over a few dollars because I felt obligated but it was uncomfortable. I wasn't satisfied with the service but didn't want to be rude. In my business, I want you to have a good experience and if you don't, I will never expect you to tip. If you feel the service is good, tips are always appreciated but never expected, and that will always be my philosophy 🌿
