In 2003, after many years of consultation and study with people involved in funeral service, Gordon Funeral Service moved to a new location at 1904 Lancaster Avenue in Monroe. Our 16,500 square foot facility offers all the amenities for greater comfort and a meaningful service. We maintain state-of-the-art sound and video systems and an immaculate automotive fleet. Every detail has been thoughtfully arranged. To your peace of mind:
In 2010, we opened our new crematory; giving the families we serve complete assurance that our own fully trained personnel handle all cremations on-site. We are proud of the fact that Gordon Funeral Service was the first funeral home in Union County to offer an “on-site” crematory. Our Promise. We assure all families we serve, that this commitment to provide the finest facilities, services, equipment, staff and care will continue as long as the Gordon family exists. Because we care about our community, we also continue to maintain strong relationships with local organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, the local churches, and other civic organizations, and proud of the fact that our company offers the longest local history of funeral service, value, concern, and personal attention.

Ann Morris Jones

Ms. Ann Morris Jones, 85, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was born on December 28, 1940, in Monroe, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Heath and Ruth Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service & Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park.

Ann was a proud graduate of Prospect High School, Class of 1959, and later attended Wingate College, graduating in 1961.

Ann is survived by her loving son, Jeff Jones; daughter-in-law, Linda Jones; and grandchildren, Michael Jones and Amanda Jones.

Ann will be most remembered for her strength, beauty, faith, determination, generosity, infectious smile, and unwavering love for her family.

At the age of 32, she became a single mother and worked tirelessly as both an insurance agent and part-time real estate agent to provide for her son, Jeff, always making him feel loved, supported, and capable of achieving anything in life. She embraced every role: mother, mentor, provider, and friend with grace, positivity, and determination.

Ann was a pioneer for women in business, becoming an Allstate Agent at a time when few women held that role. Through hard work and dedication, she became one of the company’s top-performing agents and later built, alongside Jeff, the largest business insurance agency in the US, earning recognition in the Allstate Hall of Fame. She was a role model not only to her family, but also to the many team members who worked alongside her and admired her drive, professionalism, and belief that if you put your name on something, it should be done right or not at all.

She loved life fully and had a special gift for making others smile and laugh. Whether traveling the world, enjoying the ocean, attending concerts and Broadway shows in NYC, or sitting in the country stringin’ beans and enjoying homemade meals with family, Ann felt at home wherever she was. She appreciated beautiful things, worked hard for everything she achieved, and remained humble and kind throughout her life.

Ann had deep faith and believed she was meant to make a difference in the lives of others, a purpose she fulfilled through her love for family, kindness, strength, service to others, and the legacy she leaves behind.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, friend, businesswoman, and inspiration whose light will continue to shine through all who knew and loved her.
