The connections team decided to throw a party to remember the incredible Dolly Parton!

Steve Daniels from our partners in caring at Gateway Hospice, joined us to make a delicious Pineapple Fluff! Naturally, the day wouldn't have been complete without posing with a life-sized Dolly cutout, which residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing travel around the building to help out with various tasks. The festivities wrapped up perfectly as everyone settled in to watch her hit movie, 9 to 5.

Meet Erin Lantzy! Erin is a fitness instructor who volunteers every other Sunday to get residents exercising with her energetic program, "Sit, Shimmy and Shake with Erin!" We are deeply grateful for volunteers who share their time and talents to help make our programming engaging and fulfilling. Thank you, Erin, for being such a wonderful part of our community family! Wednesday lunch outings are always a treat! This past week, residents and Connections Director Mallory enjoyed lunch at one of their favorite spots, Plaza Azteca Monroeville! The experience was top notch, from the incredible food to courteous and friendly wait staff.

Following lunch, Mallory treated residents to a scenic afternoon sightseeing drive around Monroeville, a weekly tradition everyone looks forward to.

A Visit with the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium!

On Monday, residents enjoyed a fascinating educational program presented by the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium's education department. Titled "Then and Now," the presentation took everyone on a nostalgic journey back to the days of the Highland Park Zoo, exploring its history, past exhibits, and how the beloved Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium has evolved over time. Along with a wonderful history lesson, residents were delighted by a special visit from three live animal guests!

This past Saturday, August 22nd, Connections Director Mallory Grantz and Executive Director Aimee Grayson tabled at the 8th annual Monroeville Public Library FunFest, where they distributed backpacks and school supplies in partnership with the Monroeville Foundation and Monroeville Area Pride and Community Aid (MAPCA).

It was a truly fulfilling day that allowed us to connect with our local community, talk about Juniper's mission, and network with other like-minded organizations. Altogether, Juniper Village and MAPCA distributed close to 200 book bags and over 400 school supplies!

We are already looking forward to our next service project, a Winter Warmth Coat Drive, in November!
