One of the biggest misconceptions about hospice is that choosing hospice means giving up hope. The truth is, hospice simply changes the focus of care.

Instead of focusing on curing an illness, hospice focuses on helping patients live each day with as much comfort, dignity, and quality of life as possible. Our team works to manage pain and other symptoms while providing emotional, spiritual, and practical support for both patients and their loved ones.

Some of life's most meaningful moments happen during hospice care—sharing stories, celebrating milestones, enjoying favorite meals, or simply spending quiet time together.

At Hospice of Monroe County, we believe every moment matters. Our goal is to help patients live as comfortably and meaningfully as possible while ensuring families never have to walk the journey alone.

💜 We Grieve, Too. 💜

One of the greatest privileges of hospice is walking alongside patients and families during one of life’s most sacred journeys. We celebrate the smiles, the stories, the milestones, and the moments of peace.

But when a patient passes, our hearts hurt too.

Our nurses, aides, social worker, chaplain, and every other member of our team don’t just provide care—we build relationships. We laugh together, cry together, pray together, and become a small part of each family’s story. Saying goodbye is never easy.

While our mission is to bring comfort and dignity at the end of life, that doesn’t mean we don’t feel the loss. Every patient leaves a lasting imprint on our hearts, reminding us that hospice is so much more than a job—it’s a calling. We carry each family with us, and it is a true honor to love and care for them every step of the way. 💜
