Over 60? Don’t wait for pain to start taking care of your body.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is assuming that if something doesn’t hurt, everything must be fine.

But stiffness, loss of motion, tightness, balance changes, and posture changes can build quietly over time.

Your body often adapts long before it complains.

After 60, it becomes even more important to stay ahead of problems by:

Moving every day
Keeping your strength up
Eating enough protein
Protecting your sleep
Paying attention to how your body moves — not just how it feels

In my office, the people who tend to do best long-term are usually the ones who stay proactive, not the ones who wait until things get worse.

If something feels off, or you’re just not moving like you used to, get it checked.

It’s a lot easier to stay ahead of a problem than try to fix it later.

Been in a car accident and not sure whether to see an MD or a chiropractor first?

Here’s the honest answer: it depends on your symptoms.

If you have serious warning signs — head trauma, confusion, chest pain, trouble breathing, severe headache, numbness, weakness, or possible fracture — go to the ER immediately.

But if you walked away and now you’re noticing neck pain, back stiffness, headaches, soreness, or you just feel “off,” it’s still worth getting evaluated.

Many accident-related soft tissue and spinal injuries can show up hours or days later.

At Salsé Chiropractic, we evaluate how your spine and joints are moving after trauma and help determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate — or whether you need referral for additional medical care.

Don’t guess after an accident. Get checked.

Not every problem that feels like back or neck pain… is coming from the spine.

After more than 30 years in practice, one of the most important things I’ve learned is this:

Sometimes the best thing you can do for a patient is refer them to someone else.

That’s not a limitation—it’s part of responsible care.

A proper evaluation matters.
And knowing when to collaborate with other providers is just as important as knowing what you can treat.

If you’re looking for straightforward, honest guidance about your condition, we’re here to help.

INSTAGRAM CAPTION:
If you sit most of the day — your back already knows it.
Tight hips. Inactive glutes. A lower back doing all the work it was never meant to do alone.
That’s why you stand up at the end of the day and feel that familiar tightness.
Your back isn’t weak. It’s overworked.
Here’s one stretch that can help — the half-kneeling hip flexor stretch. And if you want the full 5-move routine you can do at home, DM me the word STRETCH and I’ll send it to you free.
No equipment. Less than 10 minutes. Do it at the end of your workday.

What is back or neck pain taking away from you right now?

Not just discomfort…
But moments.

Playing with your kids.
Moving the way you used to.
Enjoying your day without thinking about it.

A lot of people try to push through it…
or rely on temporary relief.

But if it keeps coming back—
there may be a reason your body is stuck in that pattern.

Chiropractic care focuses on how your body moves and functions, not just covering up symptoms.

It’s not for everyone…
but if something doesn’t feel right,
it’s worth finding out why.

Is your mattress working for you… or against you?

Try this simple check tonight:
Lie flat and notice your lower back.
Does it gently rest into the mattress—or is there a gap?

If there’s an excessive gap, your spine may not be getting the support it needs.
Over time, a mattress that’s too soft can let your hips sink, placing added stress on your lower back—especially after hours of sleep.

If you’re waking up stiff but loosen up as the day goes on,
your mattress could be part of the problem.

The goal isn’t perfection—it’s support.
A surface that helps your body stay in a more neutral position… not fight against it all night.

If soreness is becoming a pattern, it’s worth taking a closer look at what’s contributing.

You spend 6–8 hours every night on your pillow—that’s about a third of your life.

And it’s either supporting your neck…
or stressing it.

If you sleep on your back, your pillow should support the natural curve of your neck—not push your head forward.
If you sleep on your side, your head should stay level with your spine—not tilted up or down.

Too flat? Too thick?
That means your neck may be sitting in a stressed position for hours at a time.

And over time… that adds up.

A simple check:
Do you wake up feeling rested—or stiff and tight?

If it’s the second one, your pillow could be part of the problem.

In our office, we use a simple measurement process to help match the right pillow to your body—so your neck is better supported through the night.

If you’re waking up sore, it’s worth getting checked.

You don’t have to be an athlete to put stress on your body.

Every day—
sitting, driving, working, lifting, even just getting through your routine—
your body is performing.

And when it’s not moving well, you’ll start to notice it:

Tightness.
Stiffness.
Less energy.
Things just feel… off.

Most people wait until it turns into pain.
But by then—it’s been building for a while.

The goal isn’t to wait for something to go wrong.
It’s to keep your body working so you can keep doing what you enjoy.

If it’s been a while since you’ve been checked,
that’s your sign.

📍Book a consultation. Let’s see what’s actually going on.

Most people treat headaches where they feel them…
but sometimes the source is somewhere else.

Some headaches may be related to the neck —
and addressing the right area can make a difference.

Try the simple self-check in this video.
If it helps temporarily but keeps coming back,
it may be time to have it evaluated.

You’ve seen TENS units everywhere…
But are they actually helping your pain—or just masking it?

TENS units send low-level electrical pulses through the skin to help reduce how your body perceives pain. For some people, they can provide temporary relief.

But here’s what most people don’t realize:
👉 They don’t fix the underlying problem.

Technique or Treatment
It is imperative to read the manufacturer’s instruction booklet, as each unit might have slight variances in recommendations. TENS units are now small and lightweight. Patients can place them in their pocket, on a desk, or hold them. Treatment sessions occur at the patient’s convenience except while operating heavy machinery, driving, bathing, showering, or swimming.

Complications
Despite its safety profile, there are cautions associated with TENS use.[16] Due to potential complications, individuals with pacemakers, epilepsy, or those in the throes of pregnancy are universally advised against TENS use. Theoretical risks extend to transdermal drug delivery systems and dermatologic concerns, urging a cautious approach.[15] Steering clear of TENS during activities like driving or operating heavy machinery mitigates potential complications.
