Drive Toward A Cure is funding three placements in our second Parkinson’s pilot.

This follows our first 24-session program, where a client more than 8 years post-diagnosis improved his balance by 56% and mobility by 45%.

We’re so pleased to share this next step for our Parkinson’s program.

Drive Toward a Cure has agreed to fund three client placements in our second Parkinson’s pilot at Neuro Recovery Institute.

This follows our first pilot, where a client more than 8 years after diagnosis improved his balance by 56% and his mobility by 45% over 24 Outbounder sessions.

“I joined this pilot both as a Drive Toward a Cure board member and as a client. Funding three placements is how we turn support into real care.”

We’re excited to welcome Ryan Lovell, PT, DPT, NCS, ATP to the Neuro Recovery Institute team!

Ryan is a Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist with extensive experience in neurological rehabilitation, advanced gait analysis, and technology-assisted therapy. He joins our other DPTs, Tammie and Melissa, further strengthening NRI’s protocol-driven approach.

Yesterday Ryan completed his first two client sessions and received excellent feedback — a great start.
With a strong background that includes roles at Casa Colina and Rancho Los Amigos, along with his work as Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education at West Coast University, Ryan brings exceptional clinical depth to NRI.

We’re proud to have him on the team and look forward to the impact he’ll make for our clients.

A family day at NRI 💚

It was wonderful to welcome Ken’s wife and grand daughters to the center today and give them the chance to share a little of his Outbounder experience.

Dakota even decided to put the Outbounder through its paces herself! She did brilliantly for a first attempt, although the black run eventually got the better of her. 😄

And, of course, Ken wasn’t going to be outdone, pulling out all the stops to impress his wife and granddaughters.

We love moments like these. Rehabilitation is about so much more than exercises and measurements, it’s also about confidence, enjoyment and sharing progress with the people who matter most.

We’re so encouraged by the results from our first Parkinson’s pilot.
A client more than 8 years after his diagnosis completed 24 Outbounder sessions over 10 weeks and made meaningful progress:
• Balance improved by 56%
• Mobility improved by 45%
At the halfway point his balance had already improved by 47.8%. By the final session, he was able to get on and off the platform independently for the first time — a really special moment for him and our team.
We’re now inviting 2–3 people to join our second Parkinson’s pilot. We’re quietly confident we can help deliver a similar level of improvement.

🌿 A very special gift for NRI 💚

We were really touched when Peggy, the partner of one of our clients, arrived with this beautiful plant for the center. 🪴

It was a lovely gesture, and it also made us think about the important role played by the partners, family members and caregivers who support the people who come to NRI. 💚

They do the driving. 🚗 They rearrange their days. They spend hours at the center. So often, quietly putting the needs of the person they care for ahead of their own. 🙏

Martin was delighted to accept Peggy’s gift on behalf of everyone at NRI. It will have a special place here and serve as a lovely reminder that recovery is very often a journey shared by more than one person. 🌱

We are now accepting a limited number of participants for our second Parkinson’s Clinical Outcomes Program. 🧠

This pilot builds on the progress made by the participant in our first program, who improved his Berg Balance Scale score by 11 points (23 → 34) after 10 sessions, with meaningful changes in independence and engagement also noted by his family and clinical team. 📈

Program details:

24 one-to-one sessions
FDA-registered Outbounder Advanced Rehabilitation System
Overseen by a Doctor of Physical Therapy
Clinical evaluations at the start, mid-point and end
Session fees reduced by 75%

We’ve been seeing encouraging changes in some of our Parkinson’s clients.

One person improved their Berg Balance Scale score from 23 to 34 after 10 sessions on the Outbounder over 5 weeks (+11 points).

A milestone worth celebrating 🎉

One of our founding clients has now completed all 24 Outbounder sessions at the Neuro Recovery Institute, and the final session coincided with his birthday too! 🎂

So we marked the occasion properly, including making good on a promise of an old-fashioned whiskey once he reached the end of the program. 🥃

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the commitment, concentration and determination that goes into rehabilitation but just as importantly, the relationships that develop along the way.

Congratulations on completing all 24 sessions, and a very happy birthday from everyone at NRI! 👏

Here’s to the next chapter.

💙 Encouraging progress at NRI

One of our early Parkinson’s clients recently completed 10 Outbounder ARS™ sessions over 5 weeks.

Using the Berg Balance Scale, their score improved from 23 to 34 — an 11-point increase 🙌

Even more importantly, we saw this reflected in growing confidence, better engagement and a willingness to take on new movement challenges.

This is one client’s progress, not a guaranteed result, but it’s a meaningful reminder of why personalised rehabilitation, careful measurement and engaging technology matter.
