Two interesting eyes I saw last week!
First picture is a patient in her late 30s that is a -8.00 prescription. She had cataract surgery already and they placed the lens in the front of her eye because of her pupil shape to avoid any complications and to make it easier to replace the lens in the future if necessary. This type of lens is called an Anterior Chamber Intraocular Lens (ACIOL).
The second picture is an 83 year old male. It is difficult to tell in the picture, but the patient can only perceive light out of that eye. Upon slit lamp examination, the pupil is obstructed by pigment and scar tissue and there is only a small pinhole within the central axis for the patient to perceive light (ZOOM IN).
