Both personally and professionally, I have witnessed how emotional abuse often goes unnoticed because unhealthy relationship patterns have become normalized in our society.

Abuse is not always physical.

Sometimes it shows up as manipulation, control, humiliation, betrayal, emotional neglect, chronic disrespect, enmeshment within family systems, and repeated violations of your emotional safety.

The most dangerous patterns are often the ones people have been taught to tolerate.

When unhealthy dynamics are repeated over time, emotional pain can turn into trauma.

Learn to recognize the difference between love and control.

Protect your peace. Set boundaries. Choose relationships that feel safe, healthy, and respectful.

People think abuse is easy to recognize because they imagine cheating, shouting, hitting, or controlling money. And yes, that is abuse. That is the obvious version. That is the version people can point at and say, “This is wrong.” But the dangerous part is that abuse does not always look loud.
Sometimes abuse looks like a mother who acts more like her son’s emotional wife than his parent. She competes with you, controls the relationship, and makes sure her son stays emotionally loyal to her instead of building a healthy marriage with you.
Sometimes abuse looks like family members who always take the abuser’s side while pretending they are your well-wishers. They act neutral, but somehow every conversation ends with you being blamed and the abuser being excused.
Sometimes abuse looks like enablers contacting you on the abuser’s behalf. When the narcissist cannot control the narrative himself, he sends other people to pressure you, guilt-trip you, or convince you to give him another chance. Sometimes abuse looks like people calling it “adjustment” when what they really mean is tolerating disrespect. They ask you to lower your standards, ignore your pain, and keep accepting behavior they would never accept themselves.

We believe quality mental health care should be accessible to more families.

At The Couples Therapy & Reunification Counseling, we are proud to continue expanding services and increasing access to care for the communities we serve across California.

We are now welcoming select clients through Medi-Cal while continuing to provide specialized therapy services for individuals, couples, families, and children.

Our mission remains the same. Helping families heal, restore connection, and create lasting change. ❤️

Please note: Medi-Cal is not accepted for court ordered or reunification cases.

Today, we honor the fathers who choose to show up with love, patience, and the willingness to grow for the people who matter most.

Fatherhood is not about being perfect. It is about presence. It is about protecting, nurturing, guiding, and creating a safe space where children feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

At The Couples Therapy & Reunification Counseling, we witness every day how meaningful a father’s love and connection can be in shaping a child’s emotional well being and sense of security.

To the fathers working hard to heal, reconnect, break generational cycles, and build stronger relationships with their families, today we celebrate you.

Happy Father’s Day 🤍

At the heart of everything we do is one simple belief.
Human connection matters.

So many individuals, couples, children, and families carry silent pain behind closed doors. Sometimes relationships feel distant. Sometimes conflict creates separation. Sometimes families no longer know how to find their way back to one another.

This practice was built from a deep passion for helping people heal, reconnect, and create healthier relationships.

As Clinical Director, this work is deeply personal to me because I know how powerful healing can be when people feel seen, heard, and supported.

At The Couples Therapy & Reunification Counseling, we are committed to helping individuals and families heal hearts and rebuild connection.

Healing begins when we choose to do the work.

We’re so busy building a life… we forget to actually live it.

A child is not a pawn, a messenger, or a tool to settle emotional scores.
When children are caught in the middle of unresolved conflict, they often absorb fear, guilt, pressure, and confusion that they were never meant to carry.
What feels like “winning” to an adult can become emotional harm to a child.
Children deserve better.
