A new school year brings so much for our children—new routines, new teachers, new expectations, new friendships, and sometimes a few first-day jitters too.
One of the best things we can do is help support the whole child—body, mind, and spirit—so they are better able to respond to the demands around them.
A balanced body will respond better to the challenges ahead.
❤️ Connection comes first.
Nurturing an emotional connection it creates an important foundation for emotional (nervous system) regulation, confidence, and resilience.
🥦 Nutrition matters.
Increase fresh vegetables, berries, protein and health fats; and eliminate or reduce excess sugars, processed foods, and refined carbohydrates.
😴 Prioritize sleep.
Earlier bedtimes and consistent sleep routines can make a meaningful difference in energy, mood, focus, and recovery.
💧 Hydration + minerals.
Clean (RO / Spring) water and minerals are fundamental to good health.
🌳Getting outside for exercise.
Outdoor exercise supports physical health, mood, focus, and nervous system regulation.
💊 Consider nutritional support.
Depending on your child’s needs, you may want to include supplements in their daily regimen. To see our recommendations – see the link in our bio.
🫁 Support healthy breathing and oxygenation.
Breathing practices that emphasize a longer exhale—such as inhaling gently and allowing the exhale to last about twice as long—may help encourage calmer, more regulated breathing patterns.
CO₂-supportive therapies, including baths or therapeutic devices, may also be used to support brain health, focus, and clarity.
EWOT, or Exercise with Oxygen Therapy, is another option that may be appropriate for some individuals.
🤲 Support structure and function.
When the physical structure of the body is in alignment – it will function better overall. Regular treatments can improve health and wellness, including:
• Osteopathic hands-on treatment
• Chiropractic treatment or adjustment
