CHS is in the running for the Carmel Chamber of Commerce's 2026 Awards of Excellence, and we'd be so grateful for your support in the nonprofit category!

Every day, our staff works hard to make sure our neighbors have somewhere to turn when they need help. We're proud of the work they do and would love to see it recognized!

Voting is open through October 29, and you can vote as often as you'd like.

You've heard of a Jack of all trades, but have you heard of a Gustavo of all trades? Well now you have! This is our Facilities Manager, Gustavo. He's the guy we lean on to make sure all of our 16 facilities are maintained to the highest standard. This guy stays busy!

After nearly four years of homelessness, Jess found support through CHS's Salinas Valley Street Outreach Program.

Since then, she's found sobriety, secured full-time employment, moved into stable housing, and is now just one semester away from graduating college! 🎓

Jess has worked incredibly hard to get where she is today, and we couldn't be more proud of her.

Every young person deserves a safe place to turn when they need help.

Safe Place provides immediate access to safety and support for youth facing challenges such as family conflict, homelessness, abuse, neglect, or other crises. Look for the yellow and black Safe Place sign at participating locations in your community.

When a young person reaches out, they don't have to face their situation alone.

📍 Find a Safe Place location near you or learn more about the program at https://www.nationalsafeplace.org.

When you picture someone experiencing homelessness, who comes to mind?

It could be a mom trying to keep her children’s routine together. A young person without a safe place to sleep. A neighbor working hard to find stability.

This World Homeless Day, we’re asking our community to look beyond assumptions and see the person—and the story—we may not know.

At CHS, that connection happens every day. Through Shuman HeartHouse, Casa de Noche Buena, Safe Place, Safe Passage, and our Street Outreach Programs, we help women, families, and young people find safety, connect with resources, and take steps toward stable housing.

Sometimes the first step is a warm meal, a place to rest, or someone who listens. Your support helps make those moments possible. đź’š
