Maybe you've noticed it.
You're in conversation with someone you care about, and suddenly their body reacts. Their face changes. Their tone shifts.
And you know something inside them has been triggered.
But often, it can feel directed at us.
This can be especially challenging for men. When someone we love is experiencing fear, upset, anxiety, or overwhelm, even while we're genuinely trying to help, support, or stay positive, it can trigger something inside us too:
Fear.
Anger.
Defensiveness.
Anxiety.
Worries about rejection.
The feeling that we're failing or “not doing a good job.”
One of the skills Breakthrough teaches is how to stay present with another person's emotional experience without immediately collapsing, reacting, fixing, or taking it personally.
Learning to receive someone else's experience with calm, empathy, groundedness, and relational skill can change every relationship in your life.
If you'd like to learn tools for relating with more effectiveness, connection, and emotional clarity, check out the Breakthrough Workshop. Now enrolling for June classes both In-Person and Online!
