This month we are proud to celebrate five incredible Grays Harbor County Therapeutic Court, Superior Court Division, graduates; one from Mental Health Court on July 16th, and four from Drug Court today, July 24th.

The heart of our program is a simple motto: Show up, be honest, and try. Those three simple, although not always easy, statements capture what Therapeutic Courts are all about. Progress doesn’t require perfection, it requires a willingness to keep showing up, to be truthful with yourself and your team, and to keep trying even when the path is difficult.

A reminder that it reflects months, even years, of treatment engagement, learning accountability, facing significant challenges, embracing change, and demonstrating the resilience needed to build a healthier, more stable future.

While today marks the end of one chapter, it’s not the end of their recovery journey. Graduation is not a finish line, rather a milestone that celebrates the skills, relationships, and a foundation built throughout the program. We hope these graduates carry those strengths with them as they continue moving forward in their recovery and their lives 🎉🎓🙌.

Thank you to our community partners, contracted agencies, county professionals, and citizens of Grays Harbor for your continued support of Therapeutic Courts. Thank you for believing in second chances and the potential of every participant who chooses to show up, be honest, and try. ❤️

It’s Sunday at 9:00am, so what’s the significance, UA time is up! We had all required participants show up and submit their urine drug tests today!

Recovery doesn’t only happen Monday-Friday and Accountability doesn’t only happen Monday-Friday.

Our goal is to keep our participants engaged and accountable at all times.

On Sundays we let them sleep in 😴, our typical UA hours for Drug Court are 6-8am, Sunday’s they get until 9. 😊

It is with a heavy heart that we share the message below as requested regarding Alumni Chase C.

We will be forever grateful for the work that you all did six years ago, our nephew stood at a crossroads.
He was facing more than 20 felony convictions, the possibility of more than 20 years in prison, and a future that seemed all but decided.
Then he was given an opportunity through Grays Harbor Drug Court.
He chose to take it.
Through that program, he learned far more than how to stay sober. He learned consistency. Accountability. Dependability. Integrity. He learned that he was capable of becoming the man he wanted to be.
After successfully completing Drug Court, he built a life he could be proud of. He married the woman he loved, became not only a stepfather but a true dad to her children, and before the age of 30, he became a grandfather. He found meaningful employment, provided for his family, and, for the first time in many years, was fully present in the lives of the people he loved most.
Tragically, we recently lost him. He died doing what he loved, working in the woods—a profession that has been part of our family’s legacy for generations, where men willingly face risks every day.
While our hearts are broken, we are profoundly grateful that because of Grays Harbor Therapeutic Courts, his story was not defined by addiction or incarceration. He was given the chance to change the way he thought, lived, and moved through this world. He became a responsible, productive, loving husband, father, grandfather, and member of our community.
To everyone at Grays Harbor Therapeutic Courts: thank you.

Thank you for believing in people when they struggle to believe in themselves. Thank you for holding them accountable while also offering hope. Thank you for giving our nephew the opportunity to experience a life filled with purpose, love, dignity, and family.
Those years were a gift—not only to him, but to all of us who were blessed to share them with him.
We will be forever grateful.

Jody and Arthur Heller

We hold joy in our hearts knowing we got to be a part of Chase’s journey, but are truly saddened by his sudden loss. ❤️‍🩹

Congratulations to our Therapeutic Court participants who reached an incredible milestone during Grays Harbor College’s commencement ceremony on June 26, 2026!

We celebrated 9 current participants who earned their high school diploma or equivalency!
One participant who earned an Associate in Technology - Automotive!
A few former Therapeutic Court participants whose educational journeys that began with connections & support through our program also crossed the stage to receive their high school diploma or equivalent.

These accomplishments represent far more than a diploma or degree. They reflect perseverance, resilience, and commitment to a healthier future.

Education is a key requirement of completing Therapeutic Court and one step closer to graduating our programs. National Treatment Court standards recognize building personal, social, and community resources that support long term recovery. Research consistently shows that increasing educational attainment is associated with improved employment opportunities, greater stability, and reduced involvement in the justice system.

Every cap tossed in the air is a reminder that recovery opens doors and that success can be measured by lives transformed. We are honored to walk alongside participants as they achieve goals that once may have seemed out of reach!

We would like to thank our community partner, Grays Harbor College, for always working and guiding our participants to a better future!

Coastal Community Action Program Edition

“Coastal Community Action Program changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.”

With a mission like that above, we couldn’t be more proud that we have 7 Therapeutic Court Alumni working at CCAP and towards the greater good. Fun fact, last year we entered a direct contract with CCAP and our alumni are working directly with our program participants on housing, reentry needs and peer support. We love to see all of their success come full circle and appreciate all they do!

Alumni update Donovan T.—
2020 graduate

I have been very busy checking off goals! Most recently I graduated my carpenters apprenticeship! And I am now a journeyman carpenter! I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me! A huge shout out to Thera courts for helping me find a better way to live and all my peers that have helped me along that! It hasn’t been an easy road by any means! But through hard work and dedication I showed up on time every day! Ready to do whatever was asked of me! Knowing nothing about construction in the beginning means that I’ve had to do a lot of things I’ve never done before and there are still a lot of things that I will have to do that I’ve never done before! But I pay attention I listen and I try the best I can each and everyday! Showing up, being honest, and making an honest effort has gotten me along way in this career and opened a lot of door for me to learn a lot of things and gain a lot of experience! Now it’s back to the goal list time to cross of some old ones and set some new ones! e

Today, we were pleased to celebrate Cynthia's remarkable achievement of completing our Mental Health Court program! Perfectly aligning with Mental Health Awareness Month and National Therapeutic Court Month, we will call it a coincidence 🤝
Through her journey, Cyndi has fostered meaningful relationships within the community, made possible by her commitment to her higher education objectives at Grays Harbor College, her involvement in sober softball teams, her active engagement in the recovery community, and her efforts to mend family bonds strained by addiction/mental health struggles. We are profoundly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to her future endeavors! Congrats, grad 🎓🙌
