What is Occupational Therapy? ✨
In OT school, we were taught the importance of having an "elevator speech" ready to quickly explain our profession. A common myth is that OTs "only work with hands" or "only help adults get jobs." But it goes so much deeper than that!
Simply put, Occupational Therapy helps people do the things they want to do, need to do, and have to do in daily life—all while maximizing their independence. For kids, their main "occupations" are playing, learning, and mastering daily routines.
Today, Annika put this exact mission into action! She teamed up with a wonderful kiddo and "Baby Emily" to tackle a major daily routine: toilet training. Using play-based strategies, they worked on processing the steps of toileting and building the essential coping skills needed to make this big milestone feel safe and manageable. 🧠💪
Every small win leads to greater independence.
