Leadership from Baptist Medical Center East recently spent the day with the Heart of Alabama Food Bank, gaining a firsthand look at the impact of food insecurity across Central Alabama.

📦🥫 Together, the team packed 690 senior food boxes, helping provide more than 17,000 meals for local seniors.

Experiences like these remind us that caring for our communities extends far beyond the walls of our facilities. 💚

👋Join us in welcoming Colorectal Surgeon, Dr. Luis Rivera to Baptist Health Surgical Partners–Montgomery Surgical & Trauma Associates! 🏥

🎓Dr. Luis Rivera received his medical degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

🩺He went on to complete his General Surgery residency at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, followed by a Colon and Re**al Surgery Fellowship at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

A proud member of the American Society of Colon and Re**al Surgery, Dr. Rivera was awarded Resident of the Year for General Surgery at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from INTEC in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

🍔In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and grilling. A selfproclaimed foodie, he is on a mission to find the best homemade hamburger in America.
