Health Alert: Diabetes Linked to Common Nerve Compression Disorders. Entrapment neuropathies are conditions in which a nerve becomes compressed or pinched, causing symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness. An analysis of health data concerning 6.5 million adults revealed diabetes was associated with an increased risk of four common entrapment neuropathies: carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve entrapment, radial nerve entrapment, and tarsal tunnel syndrome. Journal of Diabetes and Its Complications, August 2026
Diet: More Calcium May Not Benefit Bone Health. A study that included 586 postmenopausal women found that 71% already met the recommended calcium intake, and supplementing with additional calcium was not associated with better hip bone density or strength. Osteoporosis International, July 2026
Exercise: Toddler Who Move More Have Healthier Emotional Well-Being. Social-emotional functioning refers to a child's ability to understand and manage emotions, interact positively with others, and develop healthy relationships. In this study, researchers found that increases in physical activity during toddlerhood were associated with better social-emotional functioning, while more screen time was associated with poorer development in these areas. BMC Public Health, July 2026
Chiropractic: Conservative Care for Cervical Degenerative Disk Disease. Cervical degenerative disk disease occurs when the cushioning disks in the neck gradually wear down, often leading to neck pain and reduced mobility. Among a group of 151 patients with the condition, researchers found that both rotation-traction manipulation and cervical traction—treatments provided by chiropractors—were associated with improvements in pain and range of motion. Libyan Journal of Medicine, July 2026
Mental Attitude: Vision, Hearing, and Smell Changes May Offer Clues About Brain Health. Using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service–Health Screening Cohort, researchers found that older adults with multisensory impairment—including vision, hearing, and smell impairments—had a substantially higher risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases than those without sensory impairment. The findings suggest that changes in sensory function may provide a practical way to identify people at elevated risk for neurodegenerative disease. Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology, July 2026
Wellness/Prevention: Healthy Lifestyle Choices Shows Promising Strategies for Healthy Aging. Biological age reflects how old your body appears to be functioning based on measures of health and aging, rather than the number of years you've been alive (your chronological age). A systematic review of 41 studies found that exercise, a plantrich diet, caloric restriction, and omega-3 fatty acids were associated with modest reductions in biological age estimates. Frontiers in Genetics, May 2026
