Mental Health Interpreter Training - MHIT Mental Health Interpreter Training (MHIT). A partnership between ADMH Office of Deaf Services and ADARA. Mental Health Interpreter Training

10/09/2026

We covered a LOT of ground this week! From building resilience through individual supervision, depression in the Deaf and hard of hearing communities, human trafficking, working with sexual offenders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities to forensic evaluations, interpreting expertise, challenges in mental health VRI settings, and the future of interpreting in an ever-changing world of AI!

WHEW! Talk about a brain workout!

And to our wonderful MHIT alumni—THANK YOU for showing up, participating, asking thoughtful questions, sharing experiences, and bringing your energy and enthusiasm throughout the week. YOU make this gathering so meaningful!

We hope you leave with fresh perspectives, new connections, valuable tools, and plenty of ideas to carry into your work. The workshops may be over, but the learning, conversations, and impact continue long after we say goodbye.

Another MHIT Alumni Week in the books, another collection of memories to treasure, and another reminder of what an amazing community we have!

Until next time… SAME MHIT SPIRIT, NEW ADVENTURES! We can't wait to see you NEXT YEAR!

Who says signing in has to be boring?! NOT at MHIT Alumni Week 2026!

Of course, we couldn't let the last day go by without shaking things up a little! We put our creative minds to work and came up with some fun, unexpected, and downright hilarious ways to get everyone to sign in!

Because why do things the ordinary way when you can add a little personality, laughter, and MHIT-style mischief to the mix?!

Let's just say… even something as simple as signing in can turn into entertainment when this crew gets involved!

📸 Here are a few goodies from today's sign-in shenanigans!

Never a dull moment with the MHIT family—and we wouldn't have it any other way!

📸 BLOOPER ALERT! Because not every picture can be picture-perfect! 😂

When you're just trying to capture that ONE perfect shot of the presenter and interpreter for our page… but instead, you end up with a collection of priceless expressions, unexpected poses, and perfectly timed moments!

Sometimes the best pictures are the ones you never intended to take! And these gems are just TOO GOOD to keep to ourselves!

After all, MHIT Alumni Week isn't just about learning and professional development—it's also about laughter, personalities, and having a little fun along the way!

Enjoy these behind-the-scenes bloopers, courtesy of our very cooperative (or maybe not-so-cooperative!) presenters and interpreters! 🤟

We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried!

And just like that… we've reached the FINAL workshop of MHIT Alumni Week 2026! What a week it's been!

Who better to help us cross the finish line than Mr. Roger Williams, as he takes us on a thought-provoking journey into “The Future of Interpreting!”

With artificial intelligence advancing at lightning speed, what does the future hold for interpreters? Will technology change the way we work? What challenges and opportunities lie ahead? And where does the human connection fit into all of this?

So many questions, so much to think about, and what a fitting way to conclude a week filled with learning, lively discussions, and professional growth!

A heartfelt thank-you to Roger for challenging us to think beyond today and imagine what tomorrow may bring for the interpreting profession!

Interpreters: Dean Evans and Henry Yandrasits

The final workshop may be wrapping up, but don't go anywhere just yet… we've still got a little more MHIT magic to share!

Workshop #3 of the day—and we're STILL going strong! The finish line is in sight for MHIT Alumni Week 2026!

The dynamic duo, Mr. Roger Williams and Mr. Henry Yandrasits, takes the stage to tackle “Challenges of Working in Mental Health VRI Settings!”

Technology hiccups? Communication barriers? The twists and turns of navigating mental health interpreting through a screen? Oh, they've got plenty to talk about! From building virtual connections to handling the unexpected, this session dives into VRI's real-world challenges and the skills needed to navigate them successfully.

A BIG round of applause to Roger and Henry for sharing their expertise, insights, and experiences!

Interpreters: Mansilla and Sadi Dudley!
