On World Blood Donor Day, we thank the individuals who give blood so that others may recover and survive. Blood transfusions are often critical for seniors undergoing complex surgeries or managing serious conditions.

We honor every blood donor today and encourage our community of families, staff, and visitors to consider the meaningful role they can play in supporting this vital cause. 🩸 💉

For many years, Kathy walked the halls of The Woods as the Housekeeping Supervisor. She took pride in making sure every room sparkled, every resident felt comfortable, and every staff member felt supported. Her dedication left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Life came full circle when Kathy returned—not as an employee, but as a resident in need of rehabilitation and long-term care support. While the transition was difficult, she faced each day with determination, grace, and the same positive spirit she had always shared with others. She also shared her love of gardening with the staff and residents and started diligently planting flowers and vegetables.

With the support of therapy, nursing staff, and her own unwavering perseverance, Kathy grew stronger each week. She celebrated every milestone, no matter how small, and inspired those around her with her resilience.

Today, we are thrilled to celebrate Kathy’s successful discharge home. Watching her leave our doors and return to the community she loves is a reminder of why we do what we do.

Kathy once dedicated her career to caring for this facility. It was our honor to care for her when she needed us most. We wish her continued health, happiness, and many wonderful memories at home.

Sometimes life’s journey brings us full circle, and Kathy’s story is a beautiful example of hope, healing, and coming home to The Woods.

World Environment Day reminds us that access to nature is not a luxury. It is a health necessity. For seniors in skilled nursing care, time in outdoor spaces supports better sleep, improved mood, and reduced agitation.

Our community is designed to make it easy, safe, and enjoyable for every resident to connect with nature. 🌿 ☀️

When Benford Nichols, affectionately known as Bodie, first arrived, he believed long-term care would be his permanent home. Faced with health challenges and uncertainty about the future, the thought of returning to independent living seemed out of reach.

During Bodie’s stay, he not only worked hard in therapy but also formed a meaningful friendship with Carl, who would become his best friend. The two could often be found sharing stories, encouraging one another, and celebrating each milestone along the way, with some playful banter and some tall tales. Their friendship became a source of motivation, laughter, and support throughout the rehabilitation process.

Through determination, hard work, and the guidance of our dedicated rehabilitation team, Bodie steadily regained strength, improved mobility, and built the confidence needed to live independently once again.

After months of perseverance, Bodie achieved an incredible goal: a safe discharge to his own apartment.

While he was excited to begin this new chapter, saying goodbye to the friends he made was not easy. The bond he formed during his stay serves as a reminder that healing is about more than physical recovery—it is also about the connections we make along the way. We have no doubt these two will stay in touch!

Bodie’s journey is a testament to the power of rehabilitation, friendship, and the human spirit. We are honored to have been part of his story and wish him continued success, happiness, and health as he settles into his new home.
