Christina Bradley’s career at Kirby Medical Center is a wonderful example of how one opportunity can grow into a meaningful career.

Christina began working in Kirby’s laboratory as a phlebotomist. With experience across multiple departments and support from Kirby’s tuition reimbursement program, she continued her education, became a nurse, and now serves as Director of Nursing and Case Management.

Everyone feels tired, sleepy, or worn out from time to time. Issues like lack of quality sleep, stress, prolonged physical activity, and illness can all zap your energy. But if you’re regularly struggling to make it through the day and you can’t figure out why, it’s a good idea to discuss your fatigue with your healthcare provider.

In addition to poor sleep and stress, ongoing fatigue can stem from health problems such as anemia, thyroid disorders, nutritional deficiencies, infections, side effects from medications and more.

Make an appointment with your primary care provider if your fatigue:
• Lasts for several weeks or more
• Interferes with your work or daily activities
• Doesn’t improve with adequate rest
• Comes with other concerning symptoms

Your provider can identify possible causes and determine next steps to help you start feeling better.

Kirby Connections was excited to join the Monticello Fire & Rescue Open House on October 10! Families stopped by to pick up a first aid kit, while kids enjoyed coloring, fun activities, and a goodie bag giveaway for every child.

We are asking for the community's help to keep our crosswalks on Medical Center Drive safe for our patients, staff, and visitors. We have recently experienced several close calls involving pedestrians, and we want to remind everyone traveling through our campus to slow down and stay alert.

Illinois law requires drivers to stop and yield to pedestrians crossing within a crosswalk under the circumstances outlined in the Illinois Vehicle Code. It also prohibits drivers from passing another vehicle that has stopped at a crosswalk to allow a pedestrian to cross.

When approaching a crosswalk:

• Slow down and stay alert for pedestrians.

• Stop and yield when a pedestrian is crossing within the crosswalk and is in your half of the roadway, or is approaching closely enough from the opposite half to be in danger.

• Never pass a vehicle that has stopped at a crosswalk to allow a pedestrian to cross.

• At stop signs or flashing red signals, stop before entering the crosswalk and yield as required.

To help improve visibility and safety on our campus, we will be installing new crosswalk lights at the newer crosswalk on Medical Center Drive.

A few extra seconds of caution can make a significant difference. Please help us keep our staff, patients, visitors and community members safe by slowing down and watching for pedestrians at crosswalks.

Join us tonight as the Sages Volleyball teams take on Paxton-Buckley-Loda in our annual PINK OUT GAME in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Throughout the past several weeks, students and community have been raising money through apparel sales, Kiss the Goat competitions, 50/50 raffles, and other fundraising efforts. All proceeds will benefit Paint Piatt Pink, supporting the fight against breast cancer right here in our community!
