Earlier this week, our organization was informed by the State that our Respite Program, that supports many families with their loved ones that have a disability, will no longer receive funding at the end of June. Although we have appealed this decision, we are quite distraught of how this will impact local families. Thank you to WCIA 3 News for coming out to bring awareness to this development.

Looking for an opportunity to work with a dynamic team, daily see how your efforts contribute to a better community, and do this all with good benefits? We may have a great opportunity for you. The Piatt County Mental Health Center has (2) immediate openings within our Developmental Service Programs. One is a DSP who would work in our CDS/CSS program and the other is also a DSP who would assist in our CSS/Vocational Services programs. We are even happy to provide the training for you to earn your certification for the right candidate. A new start in a new career may just be an application away! Lastly, if you know someone who may be a good fit, please make sure to share this post with them. Thanks!

The Center’s Executive Team participated in their annual retreat today. This is a time of reviewing, strategizing, and casting vision for our organization and how we can best position our services to meet the current and emerging needs of the community. They began the day visiting an amazing business, Heart & Flour , that utilizes the talents of young people with disabilities to make amazing treats. They then learned about some of the vocational services provided to the Springfield Community through Sparc. Lastly, they gleaned the wisdom of Steve Thomas from The Scooch Project on the topics of how to create and maintain a healthy work culture. One of the nuggets was, β€œClarity is crucial.”

It is a rare occurrence when we can get the whole work family together. Friday was a great opportunity for staff to interact with other departments, pick up some helpful skills, and participate in a few fun activities. Plus our awesome board stopped by to serve and surprise staff with some sweet treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We are so thankful for this amazing team who produce beautiful things everyday.
