Your period should NOT be running your life. 🩸

If you’re missing class, skipping work, canceling plans, vomiting from pain, having painful bowel movements, severe bloating, or organizing your entire month around your period — it’s worth asking WHY.

And one of the most important things I want young people to know:

⚠️ A normal ultrasound or MRI does not automatically rule out endometriosis.

TikTok can help you recognize symptoms.
TikTok can’t diagnose you.

📱 Track your symptoms.
🗣️ Talk to your healthcare provider.
❓ Ask: “Could this be endometriosis?”

Don’t spend years being told it’s “just a bad period.”

Endometriosis is a disease, every disease deserve treatment, no one deserve to live in pain, let’s fight together

How is a patient supposed to know who is truly qualified to perform advanced endometriosis surgery?

The reality is that there is no universal designation that tells patients who has dedicated expertise in complex endometriosis excision. Too often, women are left to navigate that decision while already dealing with years of pain, infertility, fatigue, and being dismissed.

That shouldn’t be the patient’s responsibility.

Until there is greater transparency, education is your best tool.

Ask questions. Get a second opinion. Review operative and pathology reports. Learn the difference between excision and ablation. And use trusted educational resources such as iCareBetter, Nancy’s Nook, and dedicated academic endometriosis centers as starting points in your search.

The goal isn’t to find someone who simply treats endometriosis.

The goal is to find the surgeon with the training and experience that’s right for your disease.

💬 What do you think? Should there be a standardized way to identify surgeons with advanced endometriosis expertise?

Endometriosis is real, it is not in your head, prior normal laparoscopic surgery by non expert or negative MRI does not mean you don’t have endometriosis, find the answers you deserve better care

Many patients are told they need a hysterectomy but aren’t sure what that actually means.

A total hysterectomy does not mean “everything is removed.”

Know the difference between:
✅ Total hysterectomy
✅ Supracervical (subtotal) hysterectomy
✅ O***y removal (oophorectomy)
✅ Fallopian tube removal (salpingectomy)

Understanding your surgery helps you make informed decisions and know what to expect.

“Unexplained infertility” is one of the most frustrating diagnoses a patient can receive.

In many cases, the infertility isn’t truly unexplained—it may be due to endometriosis that isn’t visible on ultrasound or MRI.

Endometriosis can affect fertility even when imaging appears completely normal.

For appropriately selected patients, expert excision surgery may improve the chance of natural conception, and evidence suggests IVF outcomes can also improve after proper treatment of endometriosis.

Don’t settle for “we don’t know why.”

Ask whether endometriosis has been fully evaluated.

Most patients ask, “Did my endometriosis come back?”

Very few ask, “Was my first surgery actually complete?”

If your symptoms never improved or returned shortly after surgery, don’t jump straight to recurrence. Review your pathology report, compare it with your operative report, ask for your surgical photos/videos, and make sure you had a real postoperative treatment plan—not just, “We removed your endometriosis, you’re done.”

An informed patient is an empowered patient.

Your records tell a story. Read them.

Should you go straight to IVF if you have endometriosis?

Not always.

Endometriosis can reduce natural fertility and may also affect IVF success in some women. For carefully selected patients, complete excision surgery may restore normal anatomy and create an important window to try to conceive naturally—often within the first few months after surgery.

Every woman deserves an individualized fertility plan based on her age, ovarian reserve, tubal status, partner’s fertility, and the severity of her endometriosis.

Don’t assume surgery is always the answer.
Don’t assume IVF is always the answer.

The right treatment is the one that’s right for you.
