Our recent visit to Ferrante’s Sunflower Farm reminded us that volunteering is about so much more than lending a helping hand. It’s about building confidence, learning new skills, fostering independence, and creating meaningful connections within the community.
For individuals with disabilities, experiences like weeding, tending garden beds, and helping prepare the farm for its beautiful August bloom can provide valuable opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

Supported employment helps individuals with disabilities thrive in roles that match their strengths while providing the individualized support they need to succeed. As Direct Support Professionals, we’re there to encourage, coach, and celebrate every milestone—but the accomplishments always belong to the people we support.

Today, we’re celebrating Dan, who volunteers at CareOne in Livingston, where he leads the daily exercise class, facilitates the word game, and shares the Daily Chronicle with residents. His enthusiasm, consistency, and leadership make a meaningful impact on everyone around him.

This July, we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come since the Americans with Disabilities Act became law—and recognizing that building truly inclusive communities is a responsibility we all share.

Inclusion goes beyond accessibility. It’s about creating spaces where people with disabilities are welcomed, valued, and empowered to pursue meaningful employment, build relationships, make choices, and live with dignity.

✨ What an incredible night! ✨

Last night, Community Supports Network welcomed families, providers, advocates, and community partners from across New Jersey for our Annual Resource Fair for DDD-Eligible Individuals & Families—and the turnout was amazing!

Seeing so many people gathered in one room with a shared commitment to inclusion, connection, and support was truly inspiring. Families discovered new resources, providers built meaningful partnerships, and countless conversations took place that will continue long after the event ended.

A huge thank you to every family, vendor, organization, volunteer, and attendee who helped make this event such a success. Your dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities is what strengthens our community and creates more opportunities for everyone to thrive.
