Mental health matters for everyone — including individuals with disabilities.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting an important conversation that is too often overlooked: the connection between disability and mental wellness.
Individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities experience anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and emotional challenges just like anyone else — yet many continue to face barriers to accessible, inclusive, and compassionate mental health care.
At CSN, we believe supporting individuals means supporting the whole person. That includes emotional well-being, meaningful relationships, community inclusion, dignity, and access to person-centered support systems.
In our latest blog post, we explore:
💚 The unique mental health challenges individuals with disabilities may face
💚 Why accessible mental health care matters
💚 The importance of breaking stigma
💚 How families, caregivers, providers, and communities can help create more inclusive support systems
Because mental health conversations should include everyone.

As conversations continue around Medicaid-funded family caregiving programs, it’s important to understand what these supports actually look like for families in the disability community.

For many individuals with disabilities, care isn’t just about assistance — it’s about trust, familiarity, communication, consistency, and safety. And with the ongoing nationwide shortage of direct support professionals, family caregivers are often stepping in because there are simply no other reliable options available.

In our latest blog post, we take a closer look at:
• Why family caregiving matters
• The realities many caregivers face behind the scenes
• The impact workforce shortages are having on families
• Why accountability and support can coexist
At the center of this conversation are individuals and families who deserve dignity, stability, and access to meaningful support.

♿️🚙Accessible parking isn’t just about convenience—it’s about safety.

Recently, our Brand Communications Manager, , went through the process of renewing her daughter Adeline’s handicap placard here in New Jersey. Because she is a minor, the process requires full recertification every three years—something many families don’t realize until they’re navigating it themselves.
For Jess’s daughter, this isn’t about mobility—it’s about elopement and safety. Situations like parking lots can quickly become overwhelming or dangerous without the right supports in place.
Accessible parking can:
reduce distance and risk
help maintain supervision
create a safer transition from car to destination
For many individuals with disabilities, the need goes far beyond what people typically assume.
If you’re a parent navigating this process, know this—you are not asking for too much. You are advocating for your child’s safety.
In our latest blog, we break down everything you need to know about handicap placards in NJ, including eligibility, how to apply, and what to expect with renewals.

There’s just something about that first warm day in New Jersey ☀️

After being stuck inside all winter, Amber and I took breakfast to the park… and of course it turned into a full dance party 💃

This is one of my favorite parts of being a DSP (Direct Support Professional) —turning simple moments into something fun, freeing, and full of joy. And honestly, there’s nothing better than seeing someone light up just from being outside, moving, and soaking it all in.

These are the moments that matter 💛

In May, we recognize the moments that remind us why this work matters 💛

From Mental Health Awareness Month to National Nurses Week (May 6–12), Global Accessibility Awareness Day, and National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, this month highlights the importance of compassion, inclusion, and access across every part of our community.

These observances are more than dates on a calendar—they’re a reminder of the ongoing work it takes to build a world where everyone is supported, understood, and empowered to thrive.

is a rock star!

Some moments go beyond support—and become something truly meaningful. 🎶 🤘

Our team recently made a special trip to in Asbury Park to support one of our own, Jasmine Caldwell, as she took the stage with Rocking for Inclusion—a band made up of incredibly talented individuals with disabilities who are redefining what inclusion looks like.

What started as a simple request from our DSPs turned into a night filled with music, pride, and connection. Because at CSN, showing up matters—and celebrating the people we support in their biggest moments matters even more.

Jasmine, we are so proud of you. 💛
