Our recent visit to Ferrante’s Sunflower Farm reminded us that volunteering is about so much more than lending a helping hand. It’s about building confidence, learning new skills, fostering independence, and creating meaningful connections within the community.
For individuals with disabilities, experiences like weeding, tending garden beds, and helping prepare the farm for its beautiful August bloom can provide valuable opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

Supported employment helps individuals with disabilities thrive in roles that match their strengths while providing the individualized support they need to succeed. As Direct Support Professionals, we’re there to encourage, coach, and celebrate every milestone—but the accomplishments always belong to the people we support.

Today, we’re celebrating Dan, who volunteers at CareOne in Livingston, where he leads the daily exercise class, facilitates the word game, and shares the Daily Chronicle with residents. His enthusiasm, consistency, and leadership make a meaningful impact on everyone around him.
