Happy Birthday Dr Still!

Happy Birthday Andrew Taylor Still!

“Why not let me go? My work is surely done,
The joys of wealth belong to some other one.

With dollars I want to build no temple of fame,
I love a life where joy can come to all the same.

But the world is in many things quite new,
I will gladly stay if there is more for me to do.

Perhaps I had just as well be content,
I may have thirty years or more to be spent

Rejoicing with the wise, and combating with fools,
In the open field or halls of progressive schools.

So, just let the eagle scream or the panther growl,
I will be content to stay with wolf, hyena and hooting owl.

My belt is around me and it closely hangs as of old,

Lots of people borrow from longstanding traditions to create their own methods, even sometimes arrogantly taking ownership of others' ideas and renaming it or trademarking a program. I've seen plenty of non-DO's "borrow" from Osteopathy over the years. Osteopathy without the true Osteopath is not Osteopathy. It's just a snippet. Like a sound bite. Know the credentials of your practitioner, and don't fall for the sales pitches.

ALERT: Understand and identify the unlicensed practice of “osteopathy”

In the U.S., only licensed osteopathic physicians (DOs) and allopathic physicians (MDs) with osteopathic training are qualified to deliver osteopathic medical care to patients. However, some individuals trained in non-medical "osteopathy" programs outside the U.S. are using osteopathic terminology to market healthcare services despite lacking medical licensure. This can create confusion for patients and put them at risk.

The AOA is working to advocate for and promote recognition of the distinctiveness of osteopathic medical training.

The office is closed today in observance of Memorial Day. We extend our deepest appreciation to the individuals who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and to the families and friends forever changed by that service.

The AAO Office will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Some reports suggesting Ozempic and Wegovy (not Zepbound or Mounjaro as they are a different base medication) may be associated with a form of sudden vision loss (NAION). Curiously they may help reduce incidence of a different eye disease--dry macular degeneration. The potential for permanent vision loss however is a serious concern. Please ensure you have an eye exam prior to starting these medications, and certainly see your ophthalmologist ASAP if your vision changes while using these medications. If you have significant asymmetry of your eyes/orbits, there may be underlying optic nerve/artery compression, so we recommend treatment with an Osteopath like Dr Reeh for optimal eye health.

Any adult of any age with persisting change in bowel function, or bleeding with bowel movements should be getting it checked out. Demand a colonoscopy if you need to. So many younger adults are getting diagnosed with colore**al cancers, at ages before screening even starts.

By 2035, re**al cancer death rates could exceed deaths from colon cancer, new research suggests.
