🦋 THYROID CARE IS ABOUT MORE THAN A TSH.

One of the most common things I hear from patients is:

“My labs were normal, but I still don’t feel like myself.”

Even my own mom couldn’t get anyone to help her “feel” better despite normal TSH values.

If you’ve been struggling with fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, hair loss, dry skin, anxiety, depression, constipation, cold intolerance, or simply feeling “off,” you are not alone.

The reality is that thyroid health is often far more complex than a single laboratory value.

While TSH is an important screening tool, it is only one piece of the thyroid puzzle. A comprehensive thyroid evaluation may include Free T4, Free T3, thyroid antibodies, and other markers that help us better understand how your body is actually producing, converting, and utilizing thyroid hormone.

And when it comes to Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States, there is even more to consider.

Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune condition. That means the immune system is actively involved in the disease process. While thyroid hormone replacement may be necessary, many patients also benefit from addressing factors that can contribute to ongoing inflammation and symptoms, including:

✔ Nutrient deficiencies
✔ Stress and cortisol imbalance
✔ Blood sugar dysregulation
✔ Gut health concerns
✔ Lifestyle factors that influence inflammation

At Revitalize Hydration & Wellness, we believe medicine should never be “one-size-fits-all.”

We take the time to listen to your symptoms, review your history, evaluate your labs thoroughly, and develop an individualized plan that is designed for YOU—not just your numbers on a piece of paper.

Because feeling better isn’t about chasing a “normal” lab result.

It’s about helping you regain your energy, improve your quality of life, and get back to feeling like yourself again.

🩵 Have questions about your thyroid health? We’d be happy to help.

Weekend Reset: Give Your Cortisol a Break

As we head into the weekend, remember that rest isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

Many of us spend the week juggling work, family responsibilities, endless notifications, and packed schedules. While a certain amount of stress is normal, chronic stress can keep cortisol (your body’s primary stress hormone) elevated for long periods of time. Over time, high cortisol levels may contribute to:

• Fatigue and burnout
• Poor sleep quality
• Increased cravings and weight gain
• Elevated blood pressure
• Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
• Increased anxiety and irritability
• Weakened immune function

The good news? Your weekend can be one of the most powerful tools for helping your body reset.

☀️ Get Outside
Even 20-30 minutes outdoors can help lower stress levels. Fresh air, green spaces, and natural sunlight have been shown to improve mood, support healthy cortisol rhythms, and promote better sleep later in the evening.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Spend Time with People You Love
Meaningful connections with family and friends can increase oxytocin—the “feel good” hormone that helps counteract the effects of stress.

🚶‍♀️ Move Your Body
You don’t need an intense workout. A walk around the neighborhood, a bike ride, gardening, swimming, or playing with your kids can all help lower stress hormones while boosting endorphins.

📵 Unplug for a While
Consider setting aside time away from emails, social media, and constant notifications. Your nervous system benefits from periods of true mental rest.

💧 Stay Hydrated
Even mild dehydration can increase feelings of stress and fatigue. Keep water nearby, especially if you’re spending time outdoors.

😴 Protect Your Sleep
Try to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends. Quality sleep is one of the most effective ways to regulate cortisol levels naturally.

🌿 Slow Down
Read a book. Sit on the porch. Listen to music. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply rest.

This weekend, give yourself permission to recharge. Your mind, body, and nervous system will thank you for it.

Here’s your reminder from all of us at Revitalize Hydration & Wellness:
You don’t have to earn rest. Recovery is part of wellness. ❤️

Since I’ve spent 2 days in the sun I decided a little education on skin cancer. One of my close friends just had a small unhealing “zit” checked and now she has a 2 inch scar from a deep removal. You guessed it, it was a Melanoma. My Aunt Sharon passed away from metastatic melanoma. Knowing is half the battle.

☀️ Melanoma Awareness: What Your Skin May Be Trying to Tell You

Skin cancer doesn’t always look like what people expect. Sometimes it’s a small dark streak under a nail, a spot on the scalp hidden by hair, or a mole that has been there for years but has slowly changed. That’s why knowing what to look for can literally save your life.

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, but when caught early, it is highly treatable.

🔍 Remember the ABCDEs of Melanoma:
• A – Asymmetry: One half doesn’t match the other.
• B – Border: Edges are irregular, blurred, or uneven.
• C – Color: Multiple shades of brown, black, red, white, or blue.
• D – Diameter: Larger than 6 mm (about the size of a pencil eraser).
• E – Evolving: Any change in size, shape, color, elevation, or symptoms such as itching or bleeding.

📊 Melanoma Facts Everyone Should Know
• Melanoma can affect people of all ages, races, and genders.
• While rates are highest in people with lighter skin, melanoma in darker skin tones is often diagnosed at a later stage.
• Men have a slightly higher risk of developing melanoma and a higher mortality rate than women.
• The average age at diagnosis is around 65, but melanoma remains one of the most common cancers diagnosed in young adults.
• When melanoma is found early and remains localized, the 5-year survival rate exceeds 99%.

⚠️ Skin Cancer Doesn’t Always Appear Where You Expect
Be sure to check:
• Scalp
• Ears
• Under fingernails and toenails
• Soles of the feet
• Between toes
• Back and shoulders
• Areas that rarely see sunlight

🧴 Protect Your Skin
✔ Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily
✔ Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors
✔ Wear hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing
✔ Avoid tanning beds
✔ Perform monthly skin self-exams
✔ Schedule regular skin checks with your healthcare provider

At Revitalize Hydration & Wellness, we believe prevention and early detection are some of the most powerful tools in healthcare. If you’ve noticed a new spot, a changing mole, or anything that simply doesn’t look right, don’t ignore it. Getting it checked could make all the difference.

💙 Your skin is with you for life—take a few minutes today to give it the attention it deserves.

A Message to Our Community ❤️

Like so many in our area, we were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of local racing legend and beloved community member, Kyle Busch. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers remain with his family, friends, teammates, and the entire community as we continue to process this tragic loss.

In the days since, we have received an overwhelming number of calls and messages from patients concerned about allergy symptoms, sinus infections, colds, and respiratory illnesses. While it is important to remember that the vast majority of seasonal allergies, viral illnesses, and sinus infections do not progress to life-threatening complications, this tragedy serves as an important reminder that infections should never be ignored when symptoms become severe or are not improving.

Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming response to an infection and can develop from pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and, in some cases, complications from respiratory illnesses. Early recognition and treatment can be lifesaving.

🚩 Please seek medical evaluation if you experience:
• Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher
• Symptoms that are worsening instead of improving
• A cough that persists or worsens after several days
• Significant fatigue, weakness, or malaise
• Body aches, muscle aches, or joint pain lasting more than 24 hours
• Chills, sweats, or shaking episodes
• Shortness of breath or chest discomfort
• Difficulty staying hydrated due to nausea or vomiting

🚨 Seek emergency care immediately or call 911 if you experience:
• Difficulty breathing
• Confusion, disorientation, or unusual drowsiness
• Fainting or loss of consciousness
• Severe weakness or inability to stay awake
• Chest pain
• Signs of low blood pressure (severe dizziness, feeling like you may pass out)
• Pale, gray, mottled, or clammy skin

The purpose of this post is not to create fear, but awareness. Most illnesses resolve with supportive care and time. However, knowing when symptoms are no longer “just allergies” or “just a cold” can make all the difference.

If you are unsure whether your symptoms warrant an office visit, urgent care evaluation, or emergency treatment, please reach out to your healthcare provider. We’d much rather answer questions early than have someone delay care when they truly need it.

Take care of yourselves, check on your loved ones, and don’t ignore persistent or worsening symptoms.

“The best part of building a business isn’t creating something successful—it’s finding people who believe in the mission enough to help you build it.”

Building this practice with friends, for you, is the greatest joy of my career. Not all the surgeries, the critical moments I came in clutch, not the research, the book chapters, not the national talks or awards. All that was amazing and I was on top of the world. Then I felt alone. Lonely.

Now I’m surrounded by people I can’t wait to come to work and see. Staff and patients ❤️

☀️ EASYGOING SUNDAY: Rest Isn’t Lazy. It’s Necessary.

In a culture that celebrates being busy, many people feel guilty for slowing down. But the truth is that rest is one of the most powerful tools we have for supporting our physical and mental health.

💙 What happens when we rest?

When your body gets adequate sleep and regular periods of recovery:

✨ Stress hormones like cortisol decrease
✨ Blood pressure and heart rate improve
✨ The immune system functions more effectively
✨ Memory and concentration improve
✨ Mood becomes more stable
✨ Hormones stay better balanced
✨ Muscle repair and tissue healing occur
✨ Inflammation throughout the body decreases

Did you know?

📊 Adults who consistently sleep 7–9 hours per night have better cognitive performance, improved metabolic health, and a lower risk of chronic diseases compared to those who regularly sleep less than 6 hours.

📊 Research shows that chronic stress and inadequate rest can increase inflammation, impair immune function, and negatively impact blood sugar regulation.

📊 Sleep is when your brain performs its nightly “housekeeping,” helping clear metabolic waste products and consolidate memories from the day.

🧠 What happens when we don’t rest?

Over time, inadequate sleep and chronic stress can contribute to:

• Brain fog
• Increased anxiety and irritability
• Fatigue and low motivation
• Weight gain and increased cravings
• Elevated blood pressure
• Increased risk of insulin resistance
• Weakened immune response
• Poor recovery from exercise and illness
• Hormonal imbalance

The body was never designed to operate in a constant state of “go.”

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is:
✔️ Take a nap
✔️ Put your phone down
✔️ Sit outside in the sunshine
✔️ Read a book
✔️ Spend time with loved ones
✔️ Take a walk
✔️ Go to bed early

Remember: Self-care isn’t selfish. Recovery isn’t weakness. Rest is a biological necessity.

Today, give yourself permission to slow down.

Your body, mind, and future health will thank you. 💙
