✨ BEHIND THE SCENES — MEET KRISTIAN ✨

As we continue talking about what happens behind the scenes at Jones Family Funeral & Cremation Service, there is one person I immediately think of — our one and only Kristian. ❤️

Kristian is our other licensed funeral director, and let me tell you, she is the queen of so much of the paperwork and detail work that happens around here.

A lot of you have met with Kristian, seen her at a calling or funeral, or talked with her on the phone. But what you may not realize is just how much she does when no one is watching.

Behind the scenes, funeral directors are constantly working to make sure every little detail comes together. That can mean completing and filing death certificates and permits, contacting doctors and medical facilities, coordinating with cemeteries and churches, communicating with clergy, ordering merchandise, preparing obituaries, working with insurance assignments, making sure veteran paperwork and honors are handled, coordinating cremations or burials, and double-checking dozens of details before a family ever walks through our doors.

And then there are the things you can’t really put on a checklist — making a last-minute phone call, fixing something before a family ever realizes there was a problem, staying late because something needs finished, remembering a special request someone mentioned days earlier, or simply making sure your loved one is cared for exactly the way we promised.

That is where having someone like Kristian means so much to us.

When you own a funeral home, there is an incredible sense of relief in knowing that when you cannot be there, you have someone you completely trust to take care of a family.

I would confidently say Kristian has been involved in some way with 97% of the families we have served through the years. You may not always see her, and you may not even realize everything she did for your family, but behind the scenes, Kristian has likely been a little — or sometimes a very big — piece of your loved one’s service.

Funeral service truly takes a team. There are so many hands, phone calls, documents, conversations and tiny details that go into caring for just one family.

And we are incredibly thankful that Kristian is one of those hands. ❤️

Thank you, Kristian, for loving our families, caring about the details, and being someone we know we can always count on.

Dedicated service from our family to yours.

A true leader, mentor, and friend.

Joining the wall with a few other incredible leaders!

Coach Schmitt—whom we are blessed to call brother-in-law and Uncle Russ, and whom generations of students refer as Mr. Schmitt—dedicated his life to the development of student-athletes, teaching them so much more than just the game.

His passion, integrity, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on generations of students, athletes, families, and friends. His legacy of leadership, sportsmanship, and compassion continues to inspire us all.

Forever remembered. Forever respected. Forever part of our family.

We hope you’ll enjoy getting a little behind-the-scenes look at Jones Family Funeral & Cremation Service. 🤍

There is so much that goes into preparing for a calling, funeral service, celebration of life, or simply caring for a family—and much of it happens long before the doors ever open.

Through this series, we’re going to take you behind the scenes and share some of the things you may have never seen or even thought about. From preparation and personalization to the little details our staff handles each day, we want our community to better understand what really goes into funeral service.

We believe in being transparent, honest, and approachable. Death and funeral planning can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming, and part of our job is helping make that process a little easier to understand and a lot less intimidating.

So tell us—what would you like to see behind the scenes? What have you always wondered about funeral homes, funeral services, or what happens before a family arrives?

Ask us! Chances are, if you’ve wondered about it, someone else has too. 🤍

A little blurry “lens problems”
⚱️ Behind the Scenes: The Embalming Process

Embalming is one of those parts of funeral service that most people know happens, but many don’t really know what it involves.

The purpose of embalming is to temporarily preserve the body, disinfect, and help restore a natural, peaceful appearance so families have the opportunity to see and spend time with their loved one.

During the embalming process, the funeral director carefully introduces embalming fluid through the arterial system while blood and other fluids are drained from the body. The process is never exactly the same from one person to another. Age, physical condition, medications, illness, time since death, and many other factors can determine which fluids are selected and how the embalming is performed.

At Jones Family Funeral & Cremation Service, we have used Pierce Chemical Company embalming products for several years, and we truly wouldn’t change a thing. We trust their products and appreciate having different chemicals available for different circumstances—from arterial and cavity fluids to supplemental products used when additional preservation or restorative care is needed.

But embalming is about much more than chemicals.

There is an art to it.

Features are gently positioned, the hair and hands are cared for, cosmetics may be applied, and countless small details are addressed. Our goal isn’t to make someone look “different.” It is to help them look peaceful, natural, and recognizable to the people who love them.

Sometimes families tell us, “They look like themselves again.”

That is one of the greatest compliments we can receive.

We believe preparation of the deceased is one of the most important responsibilities entrusted to a funeral home. It happens behind closed doors, and families may never see the hours of work that go into it—but we know those details can make an incredible difference when it comes time to say goodbye.

Let’s go behind the scenes with Brooklyn Jones Parker 🖤

Brooklyn is one of our older daughters and another important part of the day-to-day operations here at Jones Family Funeral & Cremation Service.

Brooklyn is also a busy mom to twin boys, but you’ll still find her helping us with so many of the things that happen behind the scenes. She assists with bookkeeping and office work, answers phones, picks up death certificates, helps keep paperwork organized, and tackles plenty of those little tasks that most people never realize are part of funeral service.

And those of you who work in this industry know exactly what we mean when we say paperwork. 😅 It is ENDLESS!

There is so much that happens between the first phone call and the day we finally close a family’s file. Death certificates, permits, authorizations, insurance information, payments, filing, copies, signatures, phone calls, emails—and the list goes on and on.

Brooklyn may not always be the face you see during a visitation or funeral, but she is one of the people working in the background helping us keep everything moving.

That’s one thing we want to show more of: funeral service is so much more than what you see on the day of a funeral. There is an entire family and team working behind the scenes to make sure every detail is taken care of.

And yes… sometimes that means Brooklyn gets the glamorous job of chasing paperwork around town for us. 😂🖤

August has been one BUSY month for the Jones family! 🤍

Let’s start with ALL the rain we’ve had. 🌧️ Which, of course, has meant constant cleanup outside both the funeral home and the daycare. 🥴 But we survived it!

School started back for both of our girls. Bailey is officially a sophomore at Mooresville High School, and Boston is in 2nd grade at Northwood Elementary. 📚✏️

Our school year also kicked off at Love Muffins Childcare & Preschool! Between our preschoolers and our infants and toddlers, we are BUSY with all of our littles — and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🥰

Jasper and Jax had their very first debut serving a family at the funeral home, and they did SO good! 🐾🤍 We were incredibly proud of our boys.

Dave Rogers Modifications also built the boys the BEST catio because, obviously, our little kitties deserve nothing but the best. 😂🐈 They completed several other projects around our home that we are so proud of, too. I cannot wait to show you guys the full effect of the finished catio!

We spent some time with Mike Washington and, as always, had way too much fun. 📸 We also completed educational training at both of our businesses because there is always something new to learn and ways we can continue improving.

Somewhere in the middle of all the craziness, Jeffrey and I even managed to squeeze in a couple of dates — including the Churches in Mission Gala. ❤️

At the funeral home, we had the privilege of serving some incredible families who shared the most wonderful stories with us. That will forever be one of my favorite parts of what we do — getting to know the people behind the stories and helping families honor the lives they love.

We also started our new “Truth Be Told” series… and let me just say, it’s getting GOOD. 👀😂

And to finish out an already packed month, Boston started volleyball! 🏐

August was busy, messy, rainy, exciting, exhausting and FULL. Full of family, our businesses, our community, new beginnings, projects, learning, laughter and a whole lot of memories.

Here’s to September! 🍂🤎 I have a feeling it’s going to be just as busy… and I wouldn’t expect anything less around here! 😂

When your cousin is helping train the Mooresville crew at 7 Brew, you obviously have to volunteer as a taste tester! 😂🥤☕️

We are SO excited to have 7 Brew coming to Mooresville! 🎉 But while everyone else is excited about the coffee… I’m over here for the vanilla shake. 😂🤍 And let me tell you—it’s GOOD! ☺️

Welcome to Mooresville, 7 Brew! 💕☕️
