Each day has its own personality, and that is what makes our community such a special place.
August gives us another opportunity to enjoy the season and the time we spend together. July was another wonderful month at BeeHive, filled with sunshine, laughter, and meaningful moments shared together. Whether we were celebrating, exploring the community, or simply enjoying each other's company, there was no shortage of smiles throughout the month.
We kicked things off with a festive Fourth of July celebration featuring hot dogs, ribs, and all the flavors of summer. Residents enjoyed watching Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest before ending the day with Macy's spectacular fireworks display, bringing back memories of past Independence Day celebrations with family and friends.
One of the highlights of the month was our outing to the Moorhead Senior Center, where residents joined the Zippity Zingers for a lively sing-along featuring all the golden oldies before gathering for a delicious lunch. The room was filled with familiar melodies, smiling faces, and plenty of voices singing right along, making it a fun afternoon for everyone.
We also enjoyed several opportunities to get out and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. Residents enjoyed a scenic drive through the countryside while savoring a delicious ice cream treat, and wrapped up July with a relaxing fishing outing. Spending time outdoors continues to be one of our favorite ways to enjoy the season.
Back at BeeHive, the fun continued with a variety of special activities. Residents explored hands-on experiments during Science Lab, made homemade ice cream together, cooled off with refreshing snow cones, and enjoyed plenty of laughs during our BeeHive Water Fling Challenge. These activities gave everyone the chance to try something new while sharing lots of smiles along the way.
We also celebrated Avis and Joy's birthdays with pizza, treats, decorations, and live music from Aaron Niehaus, who stepped in to perform due to a last-minute scheduling conflict. It was a joyful afternoon honoring two special members of our BeeHive family.
As we look back on July, we're grateful for another month of friendship, laughter, and meaningful experiences. From outings and celebrations to music, conversation, and simple moments spent together, every day brought something to enjoy. We can't wait to see what memories August has in store!

Summer officially arrived, and we made the most of every sunny day with adventures, laughter, and meaningful moments together!

Our month kicked off with a tasty trip to RibFest, where residents enjoyed delicious ribs and all the sights and sounds of one of the area's favorite summer traditions. We also spent a beautiful day in Detroit Lakes, sharing pizza at Zorbaz while taking in the gorgeous lake views.

The fun didn't stop there! We cheered on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, welcomed some furry and feathered friends during the Red River Zoo Mobile Visit, and had a fantastic visit from the Moorhead Fire Department, who took time to connect with our residents and share a little about what they do.

We also enjoyed lunch with friends at the Moorhead Senior Center, cast a few lines during a relaxing fishing outing, and wrapped up the month with our BeeHive Grill & Gather, complete with great food, live music, and plenty of smiling faces.

Back at BeeHive, every day brought something special. Residents stayed active with Forever Fit, got creative making colorful summer coasters, challenged each other with games, enjoyed music and devotionals, and gathered around for one of summer's sweetest traditions—homemade s'mores and ice cream! We also took time to celebrate Father's Day, sharing stories, laughter, and treasured memories.

While the outings are always exciting, it's often the little moments that mean the most—the conversations over coffee, the laughter during a game, neighbors encouraging one another, and friendships growing a little stronger each day.

Thank you to our amazing residents, families, staff, and community partners for making June such a wonderful month. We can't wait to see what adventures July has in store! 🐝💛

May was a month filled with laughter, connection, and a wonderful variety of activities that brought energy and joy into our community. From the first days of the month, residents enjoyed everything from coffee and conversation, devotional gatherings, and exercise with “Forever Fit,” to relaxing afternoons of BINGO, card games, and word puzzles that kept minds sharp and spirits high.

We also celebrated the excitement of special events throughout the month. Residents enjoyed festive fun with Kentucky Derby themed activities, including hat decorating and viewing parties, as well as Cinco de Mayo celebrations filled with crafts, snacks, and a lively sense of community. Movie matinees such as Anne of Green Gables and The Shack offered meaningful moments of reflection and entertainment.

Creative expression was in full bloom in May. Residents took part in painting sessions, clay creations, and seasonal crafts that highlighted spring’s beauty. A special bouquet making activity with Hope Blooms was a wonderful highlight, bringing color, creativity, and joy to our residents. Music and rhythm also played a big role this month, with activities like Name That Tune, hymn-based devotionals, and polka and classic entertainment bringing familiar favorites and joyful memories to life.

We were also grateful to share in meaningful group experiences such as Mother’s Day recognition, Memorial Day remembrance, and spiritual gatherings that encouraged connection and reflection. Special presentations, including a weather presentation with WDAY’s very own Jesse Ritka, along with book readings and themed discussions—like North Dakota-focused programming—sparked great conversation and engagement.

A very special highlight this month was celebrating two incredible birthdays! Cathy turned 91 and Barb turned 86. We honored them with a joyful birthday celebration featuring live music by Steve Warner, creating a fun and memorable time filled with music, laughter, and community.

As always, everyday favorites like balloon volleyball, bean bag toss, cooking and baking activities, and “Memory Lane” radio hour kept the calendar lively and interactive. May was truly a month of togetherness, filled with meaningful moments, shared laughter, and opportunities for residents to stay active, creative, and connected.

We are excited to carry this energy into June and look forward to another month filled with fun, meaningful activities, and special moments shared together. 🐝💛

April brought a wonderful mix of energy, creativity, and connection to our home, and it was such a joy to see residents so actively engaged throughout the month. We shared many laughs during our game times, with everything from trivia and Yahtzee to lively rounds of BINGO and bean bag toss sparking friendly competition. Our creative side shined through as residents painted spring rocks, decorated ceramic bunnies, and enjoyed relaxing dot painting sessions, each activity offering a chance to express themselves and welcome the new season. We also made the most of the beautiful weather by spending time outdoors reading to residents, creating peaceful and uplifting moments together.

The month also gave us meaningful opportunities to gather in more reflective ways, including our Passover activity and a special Easter Sunday devotional. Residents enjoyed great outings and experiences, including a trip to Dairy Queen followed by a scenic ride to Buffalo River State Park, as well as time spent baking together—always a favorite that fills both the kitchen and halls with wonderful aromas. Seasonal treats added to the fun, including no-bake cookie nests filled with jelly bean eggs and festive dirt cups made to celebrate Earth Day.

One of the highlights was celebrating twin sisters Lois & Lola’s 93rd birthday, made even more special with live music from the Norsky Brothers, bringing smiles, toe-tapping, and plenty of joy to the day. We were also treated to a delightful kids piano concert, which brought a special sense of warmth and connection across generations. Throughout it all, our regular favorites like Forever Fit and Memory Lane Radio Hour helped keep both bodies and minds active, while movie matinees and shared snacks gave everyone time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. April was full of special moments—both big and small—and we’re so grateful to share these experiences together.
