Our Katie!!!!
At Faithful Recovery we are a puzzle and we have many pieces that put and glue us together to make a successful program. Katie is definitely a big piece in that puzzle!!!
You will be meeting each of our puzzle pieces in the days, weeks to come. Each one holds a special place and keeps Faithful Recovery going with love and patience along with all the other things!!!
Katie has been a strong part of Faithful. She works at Phase 2 and does not play because she knows this disease is life and death and she cares about our guys and wants each one to live and not only live but succeed in what they do. We are so blessed to have Katie and here is a bit of her story in her words.

My addiction started long before I realized how much it would eventually take from me. As a teenager, I drank and partied all the time, and I slowly watched my life begin to go downhill. By the age of 18, my addiction to opiates and other substances had taken over, and from there, it was off to the races.
Throughout my late teens and into my 20s, I spent much of my life going in and out of jails and rehabs. Addiction controlled my life and led me down a path I never imagined for myself.
During my addiction, I also found out that I was pregnant with another child. He is now adopted by two loving people whom I have never met. I have not seen him since the day he was born, and that is something that will always be a part of my story. Although it was one of the hardest decisions and experiences of my life, I am thankful that I was able to give him the opportunity for a better life. At the time, I knew that loving him also meant making a decision that gave him a chance to grow up away from the pain and suffering that addiction had brought into my own life.
In 2021, I went to a treatment facility in my hometown called Edgewater. That program truly helped save my life. After completing the program, I did have a setback, but I refused to give up on myself. I put myself into an IOP program, which I completed in May 2022. I have been clean since then.
My life today looks completely different than it once did. I no longer have to live in constant misery, regret, or chaos. I have rebuilt relationships that I once thought I would never get back. Most importantly, I have a relationship with my 9-year-old son today, and that is something I will never take for granted.
Recovery has given me a life I never thought was possible. I got married, I have built a beautiful life, and I get to live every day without the use of drugs. I am incredibly thankful for every program and every person who was willing to take a chance on me when I struggled to believe in myself.
I would not be where I am today without the support of the people in my life and the programs that helped guide me along the way. I am especially thankful for Faithful Recovery for allowing me the opportunity to be employed with them and for all of the people I have met throughout my journey there.
Today, I get to use my past to help others who may still be struggling. My story is proof that recovery is possible, and no matter how far someone has fallen, they are never too far gone to change their life.
