‼️Reminder: Today is the last day to submit your comments to Medicare and Congress about the planned cuts

Ask for:

1) Modifier 25 changes to be withdrawn (cuts the funding for procedures done on the same day as a visit and will result in two visits instead of one)

2) Indirect practice expense calculation change to be withdrawn or paused until a fair methodology is created (cuts funding that provides jobs to medical assistants and front desk staff)

SAVE SKIN CANCER CARE!!

Almost 10,000 people in the US are diagnosed with skin cancer EVERY DAY.

Medicare’s proposed “Modifier 25” policy would 💯% result in delays in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Many skin cancers would never be diagnosed at all, or not diagnosed until morbidity is significant, or it’s too late.

Patients, seniors, anyone who supports seniors, dermatologists, derm staff: Please sign the Community Statement opposing this proposal. If there’s sufficient public outcry, maybe our lawmakers will realize how damaging this policy would be.

Dermatologists are facing looming payment cuts to Medicare that directly affect healthcare access. CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) estimates that the rule will reduce overall Medicare payments for dermatology by approximately 9%.

Slashing payments by 9% will make it much harder for seniors to find doctors who can accept Medicare, leading to longer wait times and delayed treatments when time is of the essence.

Unlike hospitals, physicians and independent practices do not receive an automatic annual inflation update under Medicare. Asking local practices to absorb a 9% cut on top of years of unaddressed operational inflation is completely unsustainable.
