๐ŸšจDr. PS Martin, EMS Fellowship Program Director, has a special announcement! ๐Ÿšจ Yesterday, history was made on the West Virginia University campus. The first day of lectures for our first Emergency Medical Services Fellow, Catherine Kirbos, MD. It has been a long journey, but thanks to our EMS core faculty Drs. Jimmy Scheidler and Michael Shukis, I believe we have built an amazing program to train Emergency Medicine physicians to become subspecialty board certified in EMS.

Dr. Kirbos has already proven herself as a formidable medical director for Mineral County EMS. She has brought sweeping changes to their program and after completing the fellowship, I cannot wait to see where she takes it from there. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and I see her as a future leader in EMS, not just in WV but throughout the country and world if she so chooses; the sky is her limit I assure you. Welcome Kirby! I am profoundly lucky for the opportunity to train you.

As the WVU EMS Fellowshipโ€™s first Program Director, I am honored to share this opportunity with these gentlemen and our inaugural fellow. The program will focus on rural EMS. Our plan is to train a new generation of EMS physicians who will commit themselves to improving EMS in rural communities. Hopefully, we can keep as many as possible in WV to continue our forward progress.
