When your cancer treatment has already included chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and immunotherapy, the last thing on your mind is adding another appointment. But, if you're like Amanda Kramer, and you've noticed a decline in physical strength and brain function, you have to seek help from somewhere. She turned to ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation.

When Amanda was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, chemotherapy forced her to take a step back from everything. Prior to her diagnosis, Amanda juggled a hectic job while also competing in swimming meets and horse shows. Post-chemotherapy, she could barely swim a lap or ride her horse.

"At my lowest point, my muscles felt like noodles and I had almost no stamina," Amanda said. "My joints and bones ached as though I were more than 90 years old. Unloading a dishwasher could be overwhelming."

But with ReVital, Amanda was able to find recovery through small wins: regaining mobility, tolerating more activity and doing tasks that once felt impossible.

"My physical therapist has been a critical part of my recovery," Amanda said. "I needed more than generic encouragement; I needed an expert who understood how to rebuild safely after cancer treatment and surgery."

Our ReVital team, which included Physical Therapist Sarah Kowalczk and Speech-Language Pathologist Kayla Mathiowetz, helped Amanda set realistic, meaningful goals that would help her find the strength, mobility and balance to do things like run a race or ride her horse safely again.

"A major milestone was completing a five-mile women's race in Alaska, at a steady 20-minute-mile pace, and finishing strong," she shared.

There was a time when a trip to the grocery store felt impossible; running five miles shows how far Amanda has come.

"My recovery is still in progress, and I am grateful to have an expert physical therapist helping me continue forward."

The alarm goes off, and you wonder if you have the strength to face the day.

For many cancer survivors, returning to work not only restores purpose and provides financial security, but also helps rebuild energy, confidence and identity.

So, when fatigue, brain fog and the emotional toll of talking about your journey feel like they’re holding you back, what do you do?

Read our latest blog to explore how cancer rehabilitation helps people manage fatigue and return to the work that matters, including redefining what “work” actually looks like. Link in comments.
