A few appointments are still available for Smiles for Our Heroes — our annual celebration of veterans with free dental care with Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut!

This Saturday at Zufall Health - West Orange, veterans can receive no-cost exams, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, dentures, and extractions. The day also includes a resource fair, food, and entertainment open to all veterans and their families.

Don’t wait until the last minute! The school year may end in June, but NOW is the best time to schedule your child’s back-to-school vaccinations and sports physicals at Zufall Health. Pediatric appointments fill up quickly in the summer months.

All vaccines required by New Jersey schools are available to Zufall patients.

The potential for the spread of infectious diseases increases whenever people are in group settings like a school. Staying updated on your family’s vaccinations can help protect schools and communities from vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks.

On Thursday, we welcomed community partners, government officials, and other stakeholders to an Open House at Zufall Health - Flemington, our health system's sole dental-only site. Guests toured the facility and met members of our care and leadership teams. We appreciate your partnership and shared commitment to expanding access to care!

Housing is vital to well-being.

Without a safe place to live, managing chronic conditions, storing medications, or even getting a good night's sleep can become daily challenges. As housing insecurity continues to rise across New Jersey, Zufall Health is expanding outreach to ensure people experiencing housing instability can access the care they need.

From mobile medical outreach and vaccinations to partnerships addressing chronic homelessness, we're meeting people where they are with dignity, respect, and compassion.

It's official! All services are up and running at Zufall Health's newly opened School-Based Health Center in Franklin Township. This morning, Uriel and Tram became the location's very first dental patients, cared for by Dentist and SVP of Dental Services Jade Duncan, DDS, MEd, and Dental Assistant Allison Sandi.

School-based health care works because it fits into real life for families. No rearranging schedules. No missed school days. Just quality and affordable health care, right where it should be.

Dental services at Zufall's School-Based Health Center are currently available on Thursdays from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Hours will be extended as demand grows. For appointments, call: 908-526-9040.

As an AmeriCorps Volunteer, you'll support one or more clinical focus areas — including diabetes management, prenatal care, HIV/AIDS awareness, pediatric obesity prevention, or oral health — through health education and outreach. It's real-world experience that makes a difference in our community and puts you on a path to a career in health care.

We couldn't let Mental Health Awareness Month end without sharing this good news: The very first in-person patient at Zufall Health's School-Based Health Center was recently seen by behavioral health provider Cristian Urriola-Pinto, MSW, LSW!

With children’s mental health now recognized as a national concern, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting beginning for a center like this. The CDC reports that 1 in 5 children ages 3 to 17 struggle with a mental, emotional, or behavioral health condition, yet many of the children who need support most are the least likely to receive timely care. Placing these vital services directly on the Franklin Middle School campus aims to address gaps in access at the local level.

In addition to behavioral health care, the new facility also offers medical services. Dental services will become available on Thursday, June 4. Services are open to students in the Franklin Township district, their families, and the broader community. Although Congresswoman Analilia Mejia (NJ-11) was sworn into office just last month, Zufall Health is encouraged to see her already making community health centers a priority.

Yesterday, we welcomed Congresswoman Mejia to our Dover facilities, where we discussed the significance of quality, affordable care for patients who might otherwise go without.

The Congresswoman described the visit as a "full circle moment." Having received care at a community health center as a child, she entered our clinical spaces with a deeply personal understanding of what it means to receive health care with dignity, regardless of income or insurance status.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with Congresswoman Mejia and look forward to working together on behalf of our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the opening of Franklin Township’s first school-based health center!

This milestone would not have been possible without the collaboration and shared vision of Zufall Health, the Franklin Township Board of Education, Franklin Township, community partners, supporters, and local and state leaders who believe healthcare should be accessible to everyone.

We are especially grateful to the speakers and special guests who helped commemorate this exciting day, including Superintendent Dr. John Ravally, Somerset County Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson, representatives from the offices of U.S. Senator Andy Kim and the New Jersey Department of Health, Zufall Health Board leadership, and the Triple B Foundation.
