Community Listening Sessions - IPLAN - Update

What is IPLAN?

IPLAN (Illinois Project for Local Assessment of Needs) is a community health planning process used by local health departments across Illinois. It helps identify the community's greatest health needs by collecting data, gathering community input, and working with local partners.

The information gathered through IPLAN is used to prioritize health issues, develop action plans, and improve the health and well-being of our community.

Please join us on August 6 for one of our Community Listening Sessions at the Morris Library or Minooka Public Library or the Coal City Public Library. Choose the time and location that works best for you and help shape the future of public health in Grundy County.

We're excited to partner with Not Another Pizza Joint for a Pizza Kit Fundraiser benefiting the Grundy County Health Department!

For every pizza kit sold, $5 will be donated to help support community members in need through local programs and services.

We are partnering with the Grundy County Health Department - Illinois this month to help them raise funds for programs that help local women, children and seniors! We will be selling our pizza kits as pre-orders with $5 from each kit going to the health department to help fund their programs. Orders are all due by 8/18 and pickup date is Friday 8/21 or Saturday 8/22. You can get 3 12" crusts made with our own dough, 16 oz of our pizza sauce, 1 lb of the shredded mozzarella we use on our pizzas, and your choice of sausage, pepperoni, or both sausage and pepperoni! Make them all at once and freeze them, or make them as a family pizza night! You can also get 3 10" cauliflower crusts (GF) with the same toppings for a few dollars more. 💧 Do You Have a Private Well? 💧

Regular well testing is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your family's health. Private wells can be impacted by naturally occurring contaminants, nearby agricultural activities, aging infrastructure, and environmental changes—often without any noticeable changes in taste, smell, or appearance.

✔️ Test for coliform bacteria and nitrates annually
✔️ Test for metals every three years
✔️ Consider testing for pesticides, VOCs, and PFAS when appropriate
✔️ Follow recommended treatment options if contaminants are detected

The Smoke-Free Illinois Act is (SFIA) a state law which protects residents, workers, and visitors from the harmful effects of exposure to secondhand to***co smoke and e-cigarette v***r by prohibiting smoking of all forms of combustible to***co, including ci******es, ci**rs, and ho**ah, and e-ci******es, vapes, and any other electronic smoking device, in public places and places of employment.
Bars, restaurants, and other retail establishments can get more information on the requirements of the updated law at http://www.smoke-free.illinois.gov/. Consumers can use that same website to register complaints if they witness non-compliance with the indoor smoking/vaping ban.
